I just re-set my 1 carat round stone that was passed down to me from my mom. I had considered getting a new diamond and new setting, but have postponed it for now. The setting is something I found at a local B&M store that is half estate pieces, half new pieces. It''s platinum and has 8 single cut diamonds and 2 tapered baguettes. The appraiser dated it somewhere around the 1920s. I wanted something that was wider near the center stone and then tapered down. I also wanted something that would look nice as a RHR when I DO get a new diamond and setting. (I didn''t want something that would look like an engagement ring on my right hand.) And from the beginning I have wanted an antique look. So, here it is:

STUNNING! And it would make a gorgeous RHR!

I wanted to post more pictures earlier, but I had to take my boys to Cub Scouts. These darn kids are always distracting me from what is really important! (Ha ha!)

What a beautiful and unique setting! It seems a fitting home for a precious family diamond. BTW, you must have slender fingers because that looks bigger than 1 carat.

WOW--that is such a wonderful setting!

Very pretty. Congratulations.

It is beautiful! Wear it in good health!

Beautiful ring/setting/diamond...what a great RHR!!! I love it!

Thanks for all your words of kindness! I have been looking at settings since Sept. I swear I have seen 90% of what is out there. I scoured Pricescope, the internet, and local B&Ms. I started to feel like I was going crazy because all the rings were starting to look so similar. I''d see something new and think it looked like something I''d already seen. Anyway, one of the things I loved about this setting was I had not seen anything like it before in all of my searchings--not because it was crazy ugly either!

I wear a size 3 to 3.25. The saleslady convinced me to get it sized to 3.25. (I thought I should get 3.125.) It seemed a little big when I picked it up, and when I took it to the appraiser, she said it was sized to 3.5. She suggested I have speed bumps put in to make it a little smaller and keep it from spinning. She also found one of the baguettes was loose. So it''s currently at the jeweler being worked on. It should FINALLY be ready in about a week.

Sweet!!!!
