Hey Everyone,

First timer and post, I have been on this site for about a week straight 24/7 stressing about my BIG purchase last week. I might as well come out and say it right now to beat everyone to the punch, I think I messed up. So my girlfriend and I went to "look" at diamond engagement rings and I walked out with my purchase. I was looking at 2.0 carat at-least H, vs2, and very good cut.

Me not doing my research was sold on an 2.08 carat, H color, vs1, very good cut princess diamond EGL. What can I say..I got caught in the moment, BUT at least I came on here and starting reading about EGL soft grading. This is where my sleepless nights have started... I am making an appointment in the melbourne, fl area for an appraisal tomorrow and my gut is telling me I wont be liking what I hear.

So this time I was to be one step ahead and need any professionals help on assisting with my next purchase incase I have to return this immediately. I am just glad I never drank the wine bottle they gave me! It looked amazing in the stores, both my girlfriend and I are somewhat blown away and disappointed in ourselves. I cant stop looking at the pictures and wondering if or how much I got taken for, luckily there is a 30 day cash back return. Feel free to ask any questions, just try and be nice!!!

Well, it sounds like a return is possible, which is great! At least you're not stuck!! So you're looking for a 2 ct. princess cut around H color and totally eye clean. Does that sum it up? What is your budget?

I am NOT a princess cut expert, but here's one I like....knowing your budget will help us find you what you're looking for....

My budget is around 15k, would like to be int he 14.5k area for the diamond. I purchased the other diamond from "International Diamond Center" in Orlando. I am not an expert either in diamonds, but have just been looking into something that is going to have a nice shine and look good to the eye. Any suggestions are welcome! I have heard great things about "Whiteflash" and "James Allen", if this is not true please let me know I do not want to be fooled again.

I am also in the hunt for a legit appraiser in the Melbourne, FL area, so if anyone knows of one please let me know. I am very interested to see how my EGL diamond rates, still keeping my fingers crossed but am prepared to be let down... Cant thank you guys enough on whoever puts there input in, the more the better!

Ja and WF are both great places, WF is easier as you pick an ACA youre pretty much set

Good Old Gold sells nice stones... Heres one, if you hit reserve you can see the price... Plus, i think if you pay by wire or as for a pricescope discount, it might get you closer to around 14.5k

Seems like an I is going to be easiest for you to find in budget... Looks like WF has 2 ACA's around 15k

Ja might have a few, but im not a princess person, so i can only point out ones that are already proven to be in a good performing category ;)

Niel,

Thank you for the help! Can you take a look at there guarantee 30-day money back and see if I am correct. In the bottom it has an * that says for loose diamonds, studs but no mounting. Should I take this as since its mounted, its void? Or do I just have to get it unmounted.

Thanks!

I *may* be wrong, but I don't think the one from GOG is a good candidate. I don't like the facet pattern and the ASET isn't what a good princess should look like....now that I know your budget, I'll look again. I'm in a car driving home from a short vacation, so I can't post images, but will post links for you...just to clarify, *I* am not driving, DH is, so I can safely shop!!

Good point, youre right. i was looking at the Megascope, mostly.... plus depth/table. but youre right the center could be questionable... but might be worth inquiring with the budget.

Thanks!

I think they mean that they'll refund the price of the stone but not the mounting if you also bought it from them. But call in the morning and get clarification!

And I like the 2 stones at WF - very nice.

Hopefully, a princess guru will stumble along and provide some expertise...

I'd probably call Yekutiel at ID Jewelry. They don't post images of loose stones on their site, but he has been known to work some magic with tight budgets (which yours is, given your desired parameters). I'm not seeing anything other than what Niel posted that I like at the 1.9-2.1 ct. weight at James Allen or Whiteflash.

Thanks Guys! I wish I wasn't such a dummy and just did my research before! Just want to make sure my girlfriend gets the ring she deserves, and that I get my moneys worth! Appreciate all the help, will keep you all updated on my journey tomorrow. Still trying to find an appraiser that I feel will give me the most accurate appraisal.

Im the type of person that wants my cake and eat it too.. something I need to work on. 1.9-2.0 is going to be the magic number for her, but I just want it to shine like crazy. Will take any input on recommendations and what they think will look good to the naked eye.

Still looking. And you're not as dumb as I was when I found PS...my hubby and I bought a stone that COULDN'T be returned!!!! It was a nightmare that took almost 18 months to rectify. I traded in the first stone for a slightly better one (after paying an additional $6k) and then changed the setting because I still wasn't happy with the ring. I eventually got rid of the whole thing and started over because I wanted something that was "mind clean" (I.e. didn't make me feel bad whenever I looked at it).

So, you are in way better shape than I was!! We will help you find an awesome stone, don't worry. ;))

This one may have potential....

I love the setting, but please have her try wedding bands with it, as it may be hard to find a band she'll like with the setting. We see a lot of folks coming here struggling to find a band to go with their engagement ring, so it's easier to look for both now (not necessarily purchase, but just know that you have something in mind that you have tried in person with the ering)...

One more....

Thanks Yenny! I will def start looking into a wedding band immediately, if you want to see any more pictures let me know. I have some pictures of the ring in the store, obviously with the lighting where any diamond would look amazing. Just let me know and thanks for sending me the potential diamonds, feeling excited still, nervous and stressed at the same time.

It looks to have a somewhat large table.
