What is your budget for stone + setting? Are you thinking about 14K gold, 18K, platinum? What style of solitaire? This info will help the experts find you something :)

Thank you. I am looking for solitaire, tiffany setting, platinum band with no additional diamonds. Main criteria is getting a super ideal cut - best available. My budget is less than $16k for everything. Thank you.

Do you want to actually buy a tiffany setting, or do you mean in that style? This is what I imagine when I think of a "tiffany-like" solitaire setting, but just want to see if you are looking for something like this or something else?

Here's something similar but with a knife edge

For diamonds, Whitefish has multiple choices in your price + size range. Especially their ACA (a cut above) line, as that will be all ideal cuts and will show the ASET image and other light performance info.

ETA: here's another option from WF. http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/contemporary-tiffany-style-solitaire-engagement-ring-1415.htm

Brian Gavin has the nicest Tiffany style solitaires. Look there.

It seems like people are recommending white flash and brian gavin. Pros and cons to each? Does one more consistently produce better cut diamonds?

Thoughts on this one from white flash?

Thank you for all the help. The big day is coming up in 5 weeks!

Brian Gavin used to be with Whiteflash. They both offer very nice stones - might come down to pricing between stones.

The one you linked is very well cut - call WF and talk to them about it - beautiful!

How about this CBI stone from Wink?

http://highperformancediamonds.com/shop/i/HPD8085/?shop=yes

1.68ct (so indistinguishable from a 1.7ct but you're not paying any premium for hitting the 1.7ct)
I
VS2 (so less risk of any visible inclusions)

Looks to hit all your requirements and more! and if you're paying by Wire you'll still have a good $1.5k for the setting.

I think Wink can order in settings that are generally available to the other retailers - give him a call to see what he says!

You could purchase the stone to check in your own home because of the no-risk returns policy, which is the same for the other recommended vendors, of course. If you have a large enough line of credit or deep enough pockets, you could even order in the CBI and one from WF and/or one from BGD and see which one 'sings' to you the most!

EDIT: He also has a 1.71 I SI1 available for basically the same price, if you did want to hit the 1.7 mark:
