would i really be able to tell the difference between a steep/deep diamond and a well-cut? or is it all in theory?

An informal survey comparing ''steep/deep'' with other diamonds
In one lighting condition.

This is where theory meets the real world.

wow, great video.

so, it seems as though if you aren''t an expert, and you aren''t analyzing the diamond, in general, to a regular joe all cuts look similar and are very hard to tell between performance.

I have to disagree that regular people can''t tell the difference between well-cut and not so well-cut diamonds. I am always receiving compliments on my diamonds from regular people that I doubt know much about diamonds. If you didn''t care about a well-cut diamond, I don''t think you would have posted on this website because almost everyone here advocates cut above everything else. I would rather have a smaller well-cut diamond rather than a larger not so well-cut diamond.

Here''s a couple to consider that are a bit smaller than what you''re looking at but will sparkle more:

(One of the ones I posted is an I color, and I never thought I''d buy an I colored diamond, but I did and honestly it is pretty white.)

If interested, read this. It's by a 5th generation diamond cutter. If there really wasn't a noticable difference, all cutters would cut to these combos, it would mean more money. There must be a reason why they don't.

If you buy this stone, and it's never compared to a truly great cut stone, no, you'll never know the difference. And you'll never know just how much you're missing.

Good luck!
