Hi,

I am hoping to purchase a GIA certified 1.20ct Pear shape diamond with an F colour and SI1 clarity, the polish and symmetry are both labelled as very good and the fluorescence is a strong blue.

Whilst personally I don't mind fluorescence given that a diamond is a natural stone, but I don't want it to appear blue outside in the sunlight (especially considering I live in sunny Queensland, Australia). I am purchasing the ring from South Africa as this is where I am from and for sentimental reasons, the jeweler is recommended and I have relatives who have purchased from there before, however the stone is currently with their supplier who have sent a video and it looks good but its not in direct sunlight.

Does anyone have a diamond with these specs and and comment on the likeliness and shade of blue it would go in the sunlight?

Image is attached.

Thank you!

I had a G color stone with strong blue, and it doesn't actually turn blue in sunlight. It might have the slightest haze of a pale violet, but honestly, I don't think I would have even noticed had I not know about the fluorescence. I like fluorescence and would prefer it when I can get it!

I have a 1.51 either medium/strong blue florescent F color pear shaped diamond and it hasn't gone hazy/milky. Its such a cool property for the stone to have! It depends on the stone however, the milkiness is an exceptionally rare quality.
