Here''s one more. Isaac at Dimend Scaasi can get a hold of thm for you too. He''s an authorized vendor... but I found Bill''s prices to be better... as long as there wasn''t any custom work to be done.

Those are GORGEOUS and my favorites thus far! if anybody prices those, how about posting?

Question, I see one with prongs...would the other two have bezel set center diamonds? I really prefer prong set.

Last one... (although I have a couple more pics... just not appropriate for the diamond Professor is looking for).

And another... just to give you options... I personally really like the WF ones... but these are in a different style than that one... so thought I''d post them.
Beautiful Gypsy! Good thinking! I personally like the 2nd Beverly K one the best of the 3 you posted so far, but they''re all beautiful! Also love the Whiteflash ones
1.gif
. Anyone know of any others in a reasonable price range?

This is the one that just made my heart go ku-thump-ku-thump-ku-thump-ku-thump:

And it took me a minute, but it actually reminds me a bit of BrightSpot''s Quest custom halo!

Gypsy, my WORD!!! Do you have any more shots of these? Any profile ones?

Professor, one of these OR one of those Whiteflash round halos would both make any 1.1-1.5ish stone POP and BLING and SING like a 2 ct solitaire, no problem!!!!! Sorry to lobby you, we just LOOOVES halo settings!!

Marta and DS:

I priced some of thier settings... but not any of these... and that was before the price of gold SKYROCKETTING... but I'm sure an email to Bill or Isaac can take care of it. They would have to be ordered. There were prices on Pearlman's for some of thier settings.. could give us ball park information.

ETA: BLUE you are cracking me up again. No I have no other shots these are from Bev K's site... and it isn't as good for pics and views as Bill's site is... and Scaasi only posts Bev K bands on thiers last I checked... but both vendors can order the setting in for you.

ETA: AGAIN! Blueroses... that octagonal one is my fav along with the 'flower' one.

Ooooh, that round/bezel/airline one (last one Gypsy posted) is heaven too!!!!! YUMMY YUM!

Marta, there was a thread a few days ago where the budget halo settings were coming out of the woodwork. Hmmm....Gypsy, remember where? I have to look around. Hold on. Be still my heart, sweet halos of beauty

Just had to add ... the ones with the "airlines" or, for then non-lingo-speakers, the SPACE between where the stone goes and the diamond halo ... will take up even more real estate on the hand.

Great finds guys! I prefer the bezel set ones, but that might require exact sizing of stones?? Either Beverly K vendor could provide scoop on it I''m sure.

Professor, we''ll have your ring done in no time!

One more question...do they make these in platinum?

One more question...do they make these in platinum?

Yes. I know for a fact that all of the settings I saw posted with 18K pricing were available in platinum. Actually if you go to his site... some of the settings are posted with prices for Platinum... some for 18K. Bill can get you the pricing for the platinum, if he doesn''t know it off hand.

Blue I don''t think I saw that thread... hmm.

I love the two airline settings... and the ''flower'' halo too. The prong one is my least fav... but because of the prongs... it might be less expensive and a bezel... have no idea... just speculating.

Great info guys!

Now let''s hope that Professor actually decides to go with a halo

(crosses fingers!) Seems like such a great idea, as long as his fiance to be likes them too.

Okay - regarding the "airline" halos - I have never seen any in person - does the space between the stone and the halo make it look more like just a diamond - space - halo versus the more uniform blingy look of the rings without airlines? Does anyone know what I mean? Would it make it appear that the stone itself is actually smaller because you can see the outline of it better than if it was bezel or prong set without an airline?

Here''s a pic of Brightspot''s ring (you are absolutely right Blueroses)... anyone know her ring size and her diamond size? I''m curious now. Cause this puppy is beautiful and it looks huge. Perfect for the Professor''s fiance.

Here is the information on Brightspot''s ring: SERIOUS finger real estate!!!

The diamond is a 1.23 carat RB, G, VVS2 & my ring size is 7. (I’m sorry I don’t have more details on the center stone—it was a family piece so I don’t have much information on it, which makes me a terrible PriceScoper!) The mounting is custom made in platinum from Quest Jewelers.

Yikes!! SOrry that was so wide w/ the pics!

Here''s another example of some serious finger real estate blingage w/ an airline halo:
Cute330xigirl''s Leon Mege!

Band - Leon Mege Creation (Thank You). Octagonal head w/ "floating" round center stone held in by signature claws. Platinum band. 170 stones total (1.20tcw). 3 sided micro-pave, 4 diamond prongs? under the shank.. Stone- I VVS1 1.24 H&A RB (Thanks to GOG)

Yeah see... that covers her whole finger width... and she''s a 7... so this would TOTALLY work for a size ten finger... serious finger coverage.

Ooops forgot one Bev K that would work... also prong set.

Bumping so the professor (if he''s around) can check out our latest insanity on his behalf!!!

I''ve never seen those Beverly K settings before, all I can say is

those are just gorgeous

Ok ladies, this is what is happening so far:

I reserved this diamond today (hopefully, they are closed today) http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2125/ . I am not close to GOG, but I have family that is... so I had them go and view the diamond. I got the "it''s included but you can''t see it without a loupe" speech and a "it''s REALLY nice looking" as well... so I put a deposit on it.

They also saw this setting: http://www.goodoldgold.com/setting/I-6PLE617/ which I think she will like. She likes the split shank setting, but I am not 100% certain she will like the halo. Her best friend does, so that helps. The only thing is my family up their said that the diamond is so beautiful, why would you hide it within the halo? Any answers to that ladies?

From what we saw from Scott Kay in Jared, I KNOW she will like this setting:
http://www.tacori.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=SRCH&Product_Code=2573PR7&Category_Code=ENGAGEMENT&Store_Code=TACORI&Search=A&offset=25&filter_cat=4&PowerSearch_Begin_Only=&sort=&range_low=&range_high=%20&srch_srcha=1

So, with that stone... which way should I go? Right now, she is expecting 1 Ct total weight, so either will be a good choice. Thanks for all your support and I''ll try to photograph it before I give it to her.

Thanks for your help in all of this!

Congrats on finding "the stone"!! Looks great!

I'm trying to help post the setting pix, but I couldn't tell which Scott Kay it was ... but here's the GOG halo.

If a delicate "halo" is a push-up bra ... this thing is a full on corset/girdle/harness. Me NO LIKIE. And I don't think it will work with a wedding band sitting beside it.

Not all halos "hide the stone" ... but, THAT one does.

ETA: I particularly don't like the "choppiness" of it. The lines don't connect. No flow. Seems like an assembly of different parts that don't work together. And like stuff would get caught on the swoopy wing parts. At first glance - it looks like a High School class ring. Heard enough on that one?

This one - for comparison sake - is IMO infinately more feminine and flowy.

flowyhalo.jpg

I did like those rings, but I could not find a place online to purchase them or a way to see if I can find them here down in the south. If you could help me out with that, I would greatly appreciate it!

A great halo will not hide your diamond, but enhance it.

Gypsy mentioned that Bill Pearlman at Pearlmans Jewelry (online & a B&M) carries the Beverly K line - but doesn''t show those particular settings on his site -- but could order them. I don''t know that specifically - just what she said.

The link to Pearlmans is

Did GOG say they don''t carry Carl Blackburn or Beverly K?

Holla to the South!

Let me also preface that I will be presenting the ring in less 3 weeks, so that presents problems as well.

The Scott Kay ring I want is here:

I think this Tacori is better:
2573PR7_main.jpg

I wouldn't mind a halo, but I do not know if I can get one like Beverly K's within that timeframe. I know she will really like either of those, and I think she will as well since her "big rock" ideas are now in the past.

i actually have tried on one of those two you just posted, can''t remember if it was the scott kay or tacori...i love split shanks but for me they are almost an older woman kind of look. like when you just want to wear one ring.

split shank rings are kind of ''trendy'' right now but i''m not so sure they are going to be a classic look...anyway it''s hard to wear a w-ring with that. the gal at BBB mentioned she thought split shanks were for smaller stones, to make them look bigger, but that she thought something like a 1.5c (like what my friend was getting) would be ''lost'' in that setting. so not sure what that really means but you don''t want the stone to look smaller!

anyway both of those are just lovely, for sure...i guess my only comment would be that shhe may appear to be ''over'' the size thing but you don''t get over it that easily, esp after you have been wearing the ring for a few weeks on a size 10 finger going ''hmm my ring is starting to look really darn small''. or maybe that would just be ME...with my DSS. hehee.

you know her best but i think that halo''ing the stone does not ''hide'' it, it enhances it and the size. but in the end you know her and you know what she''d love so do what she would be happiest with!! good luck!

VERY PRETTY! I like both of those choices WAY WAY more than the GOG thick halo.

FYI: I have size 10.5 fingers too -- and originally thought I wanted a halo to "plump" up the overall look on my hand. My 1.5 ct. Asscher is about as large mm-wise as the RB stone you''ve chosen and IN THE END I selected an antique solitaire setting (in my avatar) not so unlike these last two choices of yours. There''s something very classic & bridal & traditional about a solitare. And, as "big" as halo''s looked on my hand -- I didn''t actually like the look on my hand for day to day wear. I, a Southerner, called one "Viva Las Vegas" -- Liberace-like. Elton John. Get the drift?

Here''s a link to whole hand shots of my ring if you''re curious how that size stone & type of setting would look on your fiance ... link to my thread.

Can''t wait to see the final product! Good luck!

Your best bet on metting your timeline would be to choose a setting from GOG. There are gorgeous antique settings from Richard Landi and Sheldon Speyer. Have you looked through those?

I prefer halos where the center diamond is prong set which makes it sit a little above the halo, and it doesn''t get lost in the halo like a bezel set one does. I do agree, though, that I''d like to see settings in person, and it is very hard to locate some of these brands.
