I've decided on the James Allen .30ct common prong. I know the basics about diamonds but still don't know what it should look like in person/to the naked eye. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Price range 2000-3000, color I or greater, excellent cut, .75ct or greater

Thanks!

Looks like a nice one to me- what's the PS discount?

That one looks great. I could only see one small speck on the face of it. Thanks, it's definitely in the running. Hopefully .75 isn't too small

You definitely won't see anything on the diamond with the naked eye as the diamond is VS1, so nothing to worry about in terms of that.

The difference in size between the .75 and the .81 is 0.1mm so I'd personally be going with the one that scores well on HCA (and also comes in closer to budget) but totally up to you. I'm sure either way, you are going to have a beautiful ring! Come back and show pictures for sure!

I'd probably go
4th: 247484: HCA 2.6 and SI1
3rd: 262871: HCA 1.1 but symmetry only Very Good

And then either 149692 or 76018 as the best - both score well on HCA and are VVS2/VS1 respectively so no worries whether stone is eye clean. It will just depend on if you are happy to go down to a 'J' colour/bigger stone or if you wanted a high a colour as possible sacrificing 0.05carats. Have you seen 'I' and 'J' stones in real life?

Also, with your setting the centre stone may look slightly more tinted.

Thanks for the help Samson- No I've never seen I or J color diamonds in person.
Why would the diamond be more tinted with the setting
I picked out?

Sometimes with platinum and higher colour band diamonds, the tint may be more apparent.

Not sure if you have time or the means but it might be a good idea to check out some I/J colour diamonds to see if you're happy with the colour. Some people are more colour sensitive than others. I think Good Old Gold also has videos on their YouTube channel comparing different colours and whatnot if you can't physically get to check the diamonds out.
