any advice on this one?

EGL can be very soft on grading so I would take their color/clarity grading with a grain of salt. Would you have a return period wherein you could have the stone appraised and return it if you were unhappy with the results?

The HCA tool prefers angles to percentages; that could make a difference in the HCA score. EGL does not provide angle measurements.

I would stick with AGS/GIA grading to insure that I was getting exactly what I wanted.

thank you . theres a 30 day return policy... from the picture the stone faces up pretty much white.. i requested for more photos..
please share your thoughts with me if i should go for this one.

The lab used for grading doesn't have a good reputation. The color could really be K-M and the clarity could be SI1-2 if the same stone were graded by GIA or AGS - hence EGL's "loose grading" reputation. If you trust the vendor and they have a 100% refund policy, go ahead but have it appraised immediately to make sure you got what you paid for and that you're satisfied with the product. Even if it ends up looking like a K, if you like it, then that's all that matters. Good luck!

I responded to your other thread, but I didn't realize you were looking at EGL. I would highly recommend AGS or GIA only for the reasons already mentioned! That is why others have been concerned on your price range for the perimeters you want. EGL is risky from my experience, lighter grading.

I got the picture from the Vendor. What do you guys think, should I go for it?

The price tells you that this stone is not GIA/AGS equivalent. A stone of the same grade from GIA or AGS lab would probably go for $75K. $30K will buy you a beautiful top ideal cut 2.25ct I VS2 H&A stone graded by AGS or GIA.

If there's a 30 day return policy, you have nothing to lose. Do you have a jeweler around that you trust who you could take it to to check it out?
