Ok....so I gently killed the deal. Told him to go ahead and make the extra $500 and run. He the told me he could get ANYTHING when I''m ready to pull the trigger. so I asked what his connections were.....we''ll see if he devulges I''m curious,

i''m glad you resolved this gently and the issue is closed, but i just had to add one more observation. initially he says the diamond is GIA certed, and later he states it is an IDEAL cut diamond. correct me if i''m wrong, but GIA doesn''t use ideal, they use excellent for their top cut grade. HELLO, DUDE???!!!???

I wouldn't even bother communicating with your future brother-in-law about diamonds ever again. I doubt he will be helpful. I suggest you to do your own research so you can make an educated purchase on your own.

coach, plenty of people will help you here once you know the price range and shape of what your GF loves. Take her window shopping. Try on a bunch of things and then come back and tell us what she loves most. The people here are great at finding nice stones.
