I''m thinking of going with a 6 prong. What do y''all think? 6 or 4 prong?

It''ll be gorgeous!

And 6 prong

I''m liking 6 prongs more now than I used to. If it''s set low and squatty like Mara''s that''s really pretty.

oooh, it''s going to be very pretty!

Jumbo, looks like a gorgeous ring, congrats!

As for prongs, it''s kind of a personal thing, you''ll get both answers on here, but 6 prong will be ahead. Some feel 6 gives the stone a rounder appearance, and that 4, at certain angles can make it appear somewhat squarish. So I would say, if you don''t know what she likes, I''d go with 6.

I prefer the look of 4. I think 6 covers too much diamond.

Its really a personal decision. Neither is right or wrong.

Its gonna be beautiful!

It looks gorgeous. As for prongs, I prefer 6, but I agree that it is a personal preference.

What size/shape/color center stone are we talking about?

Six prongs can slightly increase the size appearance of the center stone ... in addition to protecting it somewhat more. Also would hide more side-view color.

If it''s a very large "D" color or something ... I''d say four prongs would flatter & expose the icy cold sideview.

just make sure she doesn''t have a strong preference one way or another, if you can. for instance, i really really prefer four prong. really REALLY prefer it. but some people don''t care at all...

I chose 4 as well, because I wanted as much of my stone to show as possible!

Wax looks beautiful! The prong number is a matter of personal preference, although 6 is generally better, it is not as aesthetically pleasing to some people. I prefer 6 though.

Here is the finished ring! Not too shabby!!!

I'll get hand shots in a week or so if/when she says "Yes!"

BTW, after asking my gf what she thought about 4 vs 6 prong, she wanted a 4 even though I wanted a 6.

Love it! It looks perfect! I actually think the 4-prong looks especially good because it echoes the lines of the shank...good job!

It turned out lovely!!

WOW!

I do think 4 prong is perfect with that ring because the shank has a geometric feel and so the 4 prong looks far more natural and part of the ring than a 6 prong would have.
GREAT JOB!!
