I started my adventure in finding the perfect 10 year anniversary set around May/June. I looked at so many pictures, I knew I didn't want anything that looked like anyone else's ring - we didn't say standard vows and our relationship is not like anyone else's. I knew I wanted something special. I went to Jared and Shane and knew what I did not want. It quickly became apparent that a sapphire was out of budget and while I was open to lab grown options, my husband was not so keen. I found Loupe Troop and found "the ring" and it was in budget, too!

Still, I pondered it a bit then reached out to Caysie to find out it was sold but she could make me one! This was my first real experience in custom work. I did end up changing the band to rose gold for contrast and added a contoured engraved band to match the halo so it would be more like a wedding "set." But there was a lot of trust involved. I had never seen her work in person. I had never seen this ring on a hand (even the glamour shots I got last week were all in the box), I had never seen a gray diamond close up in person, I questioned my decision to do mixed metals (which some people are saying will be dated soon). I'm not sure I'll ever go back. I'm not giving up my favorite pawn shop but.... this forum has changed me! I wish I knew more and joined sooner before I started this process.

Anyways, months passed by and I passed them obsessing over everyone else's jewelry (as we do here) but FINALLY she's here!!!!!! And a day early - in time to show her off at my office party tomorrow! Attached are Caysie's glamour shots and my own. Mine aren't great but I've got a lot to learn from all of you! (And to keep some hand lotion in my purse!)

Oh it’s here and it’s lovely!! I’m so happy it turned out to be so beautiful. I hope you love it.

I just loove the chubby shape of your grey pear! The gray and those curves make it somehow both soft and edgy all at once!

Enjoy the ring! You and Caysie did good!

Beautiful! The detailing, as always from Caysie, is incredible

Enjoy wearing them & showing them off!

Congratulations!! Your whole set is lovely and gorgeous and looks beautiful and distinctive on you. Well done!

I’m a fan of the mixed metals and think it looks really lovely on you!

It's beautiful and unique! The engraving is superbly done as always by Caysie and her team. It reminds me of nature, the earth elements and the vast outdoors..what a special and meaningful piece. Congrats on your engagement!

Love it! So unique and cool! :kiss2:

I don't know what's better - staring at my lovely ring or the heartwarming compliments! I'm very happy, my husband is like, "Show everyone your ring!" which means he's happy with it.... it's just lovely. But I've definitely been bitten by the "custom" bug. Thanks for all the lovely words! It's especially lovely as so many of you have some VERY drool worthy pieces.....

Your new set is gorgeous!!! It looks perfect on you.

Oh I love this!!! The diamond is so special and the settings are beautifully done! LOVE the curved band. Congratulations and have fun wearing it to the party!:appl:

My husband was showing it off at the party! One of my colleagues wives had on a massive sapphire ballerina ring that I blatantly stared at while she was having a conversation with someone else, I really wanted to compliment her on it but didn't get a chance to so I told her husband he did a good job!

Last night we were watching TV and I caught some flashes in my ring! Like little bits of peachy pinky glitter (kind of like how an opal flashes, these are internal not like the sparkly light reflections that my clear diamond throws off). It's super neat!

I love things that stand out from the crowd. Your set is amazing :praise::love:

What a uniquely gorgeous ring! I love the gray diamond and two tone look.

Gorgeous and unique. Enjoy!

I love it and love her work. Rustic diamonds and rose cuts in general are so fascinating and I have a few myself, including one from Caysie.

I tend to disagree that they will go out of style entirely, especially the ones that are set like this, in an antique style with very clearly excellent craftsmanship. I think those will just become eccentric and interesting antiques as time goes on.

I have giggle about being "in style" as I gaze at my ring while wearing my llama onesie!

I almost wish I had gone with a rose gold band instead. What say you? If I had consulted here, would you have suggested I go with rose gold instead of the white? I thought with a rose gold band, the halo would look funny but now I think it would have been just fine.

I think the white gold band makes it way more interesting, unique. Would have been a little *yawn* more matchy matchy.

Another lovely CVB set, enjoy it! :)

I like how the wg band echoes the halo, i think you made the right choice!

I'm so glad you figured out what you love and went for it! Love the mixed metals...dont worry about going out of "style". Wear what you
love and what makes you happy! Its a unique setting/ring that I find very appealing to look at.

The good thing is you can feel free to try other bands with it. You have a curved band for it, so there's nothing to stop you trying out some other bands and rock the gap. Would love to see it with a tiara ring too....

It's a gorgeous and unique ring. I love it! It has an ancient, magical look to me. Congratulations! And I think it's so cool that your husband obviously loves it and wants people to admire it. So sweet!

Thank you all so much for answering and making me feel better about my choice!

Just daydreaming but I may get a Leilani band (the curved one on the bottom) in the future with rose cut gray and white diamonds. I wonder if the open ring on top could work with my stone if stacked on top.

what you might consider doing is going for regular full cut diamonds for major contrast. I know it seems counterintuitive, but some of the most successful stacks (and work) I've seen done with the rustic cuts involve people really playing up the contrast between the two, like you might with a colored stone and that's what I did too and I like the look. I adore that bottom curved band in YG...so pretty...
