Long overdue!

First off, Akoya pearls - prezzie from hubby for our 1st anniversary...and also my *first ever* pearls.

Not sure why the pic shows the pearls to have a rosy tint. IRL, they're more of a creamy white.

Golden SS, very yummy...imho of course!

These are drop-shaped, perfect for dangly earrings.

Not sure if you can see the "specs" or blemishes. I wonder if the pearls have been colour-treated?

One of the more recent acquisitions. Tahitian peal earrings, perfectly round. Again, the colour IRL is slightly diffrent, more greenish body colour and also more peacock-ish overtone...

I love all your pearls. Since I''ve seen you SS earring drops I''ve wanted a pair myself. That''s like taking your earrings and creating a whole new pair by adding them. In essence, I purchase doubles your whole earring collection.

Your pearls have a beautiful, top quality metallic lustre. The tin cups are such a romantic strand. I would love to see pictures of you wearing them. Which are the ones that are from your recent trip to the Pearl City (is it known as Pearl City? I cannot remember the exact name)

Thank you, ladies, for your kind words. SimplySplendid, the Tahitians shown above and the SS pendant were bought at Pearl City. I really wasn't sure about their authenticity, despite having read up all the advice given on this forum by Pearlie, Streeter, TOP etc. So, what you've said means a lot to me, esp. since you are a lady with great taste and you have this *amazing* pearl collection (amongst other pretties)!

Will try and take pics of the pearls on me, soon.....well....soon-ish!

I think they''re betwen 10-12mm but am not sure. I may go to Pearl City tomorrow. If I do, I''ll ask them to lend me the measurement "thingy" and let you know for sure.

Thank you, girlfriend, for both of your compliments. And no, it's not creepy at all! I'm very flattered!

But my neck is nowhere as long and as swan-like as yours.

The white freshies are not bad, I guess. I'd still like to have a SS strand some day.

So glad to "see" you. Is it my imagination or have you been MIA these last couple of weeks? I thought perhaps you were busy preparing for your trip back home to Singers.

What is Pearl City?

Oh, only the best thing since sliced bread, ha ha!

Seriously though, it''s a shopping centre in SH that specialises in selling pearls, though mostly to tourists and foreigners - I have to say. I think the Chinese buy their pearls from some other cities. But it''s alright for me because the SA''s there speak English and their prices are VERY competitive. You have to be able to sort through the pearls though and select the better quality ones. There are lots of cheap and not-so-nice pieces. I was a bit afraid that their pearls may be fakes, but so far it hasn''t seemed the case. I even tried the "scratch" test and the pearls seeem genuine enough.

Sorry, that was a long answer to a short Q, LOL!
