My partner bought this for $300 what you think?

So my partner bought this for $300 , I know it has noticable inclusions ect, I'm still learning about these beautiful stones. Do you think it's worth the price he paid??

Well... it looks like it cost $300. So, sure. Worth that price, I guess. I’d rather have CZ or moissanite at that price point, but to each their own.

Wouldn't be worth $300 of my money, but to others it might be. I'm assuming it didn't come with any form of certification or even an appraisal, so there is no telling what that $300 actually got you. Could be a poorly cut diamond, could be a treated or enhanced diamond, could not be a diamond at all. Either way, it does not appear to be a very attractive stone from the photos and I would much rather put that $300 towards something nicer looking.

Included diamonds are not an aesthetic embraced by this forum, and PSers overwhelmingly prefer eye clean ones. Included diamonds are a trend nonetheless and I prefer them with settings like the one below - simple, but with an edge.

I agree with @Kaycee2018 about the importance of knowing what treatments your diamond has had because it affects the durability of it.

The setting if 14k and in your size would be worth something. ( because you dont have to pay to resize it and the cost of the head and band ) The stone it self looks heavily included, but if that is ok to you then it is worth the 300$

I do not pay for what I can pick from the ground; there are little pebbles around, the difference is too subtle & favors these. The setting I would like for one costs &1K or so.

I'd say he paid for the gold weight in the setting as the stone may be worth less.... If you love it then great but I'd definitely find out if it's had any treatments that could be a durability risk.

it sounds like you are enamoured by this stone. And That is what matters...

like others have mentioned, it is a good idea to get an understanding of the stone for durability issues. For me, this stone could work in a bezel setting to minimise the inclusions that reach out to girdle... though I am no expert on these stones. I also believe that setting a stone in a bezel might create a lot of pressure and propagate any surface reaching inclusion and cause to to crack.

Hope others might be able to chime in to give ymore tips.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, they say, and it’s true! But you didn’t ask if it was beautiful, you asked about worth.

Whether you could resell it for $300 is a measurement of its value, and I’m not sure if it would sell.

BUT, how many bottles of wine, or houseplants, or movie tickets, or spa appointments, would the average person spend $300 on.... my point is simply that, if you think of it as Entertainment, you should be able to relax and enjoy your diamond. Have fun with it!

I think this is worth the 300 he paid. You did get 1 carat worth of diamonds at the cost of gold weight. I don't see any dark inclusions. So sure, for 300.00 he got a "free" diamond in the deal while buying gold. I see some sparkles in the photograph, so you can enjoy those. Since your sweetheart brought this home to you, that was a lovely thought.
