My mother is oves jewelry (who doesn''t)! But she likes everything yellow gold and jade (we are Chinese), which is not my style. But she always had this one ring in 14k white gold, that I adored and I always tried it on, even in my teenage years. When I turned 21, over 5 years ago she said that I was old enough to have some real jewelry and gave me the ring!!! She told me the story behind the ring. She said she had it for over 30 years now. When she was younger she worked in a jewelry shop in Hong Kong and a Philippino lady pawned this ring for a bunch of gold rope chains (popular then) to sell to people back home where she is from, to make some money and come back to purchase the ring back. The lady never came back for her ring. My mom loved the ring, told my dad about it, gathered up some money and bought it from the shop. So now I wear it as a right had ring and adore it! So much that I am getting something similar (asscher cut) diamond for an e-ring.

I never knew what the diamonds were because it never came with a cert. But now I know they are square step cuts, and it is visibly whiter than my moms G color 2.3ct RB, and the diamonds are a decent size. maybe .25ct???. I really should take it to an expert oneday just to get some insight on size and everything else. Also maybe get it reset because the setting is very old and the prongs dont seem to be placed very good.

Well here is a few pics of the ring...tell me what you honestly think.

Geez...sorry I did not relize how huge the images came out to be.
I tried to go back and edit it to make the image smaller, but it would not let me.

I did not think I would of got that kind of reaction. Thank you so much

Gorgeous! I can''t imagine pawning it, lucky you!

Oh yea...I also wanted to ask if anyone has a diamond like this...I have never seen another set square-step cut yet. I also dont mind if anyone wants to give me opinions, critisize it.

That cut is pretty common in eternity bands, they fit well together and invoke an asscher without the actual windmills. Here''s the Facets "asscher" band:

QUITE a few people... Deco and myself included have square emerald cuts... also called asschers or generic asschers. There are branded asschers as well... Royal Asschers. Asschers have a great history and story... so some searches on here and you''ll get more information on them than you ever thought was possible.

Your ring is beautiful. Cherish it. And get those diamonds appraised. If you aren''t too attached to the current setting a truffle settting would be amazing with those!

I know I''ve seen similar TINY stones like that ... I think another name for them is Carre Cut?? Almost square baquettes.

Demi Moore''s e-ring stone is a slightly rectangular stone with a VERY similar look ... like a GIANT baguette. There are pictures of it a few places in the Updated Celeb Ring thread -- but since that thing is 100+ pages long now I''m loathe to try to find it. You''ll have fun looking through it anyway!!

Some folks LOVE LOVE LOVE their windmills - and I do too -- but I also REALLY appreciate the bold contrast & clean prism-ish optical precision of these types of stones. Even when small (which yours aren''t) they show their patterns & pop off the hand.

TOTAL YUMMO. Me. So. Want.

I love your ring! It''s just gorgeous, and it''ll look lovely with an Asscher right hand ring.

I have had two posts written up now that didn''t allow me to post pics of the new bauble in my collection - a vintage Square Baguette eternity band. I happened across it in my jewelers Estate section, and when I found out that it was a size 5, I had to have it! I''ve been so bad about posting pictures of my new baubles, because MS photo editor resizes quality right out of pics, and I''m not the biggest of fans of the hotlinking restrictions. I''ll make this post, then see if I can link the pics in the next.

It''s 19 .20 ct. G/H, VS2 square baguettes set in white gold.

Weird, I can''t link pics at all. Hmmmm.

Jessme7, gorgeous ring

Unusual design with 4 stones instead of more common 3 or 5 stones. Is 4 a lucky number in Chinese or Philipino culture?

Thanks babymonster, I thought 4 is unusual too. 4 is definetly not a lucky number for Chinese, not sure about Philipino though.

Very beautiful ring!!! The size of the stones look pretty large, they could even be .30''s! How wonderful it came from your mother and has a great story. You will cherish this ring for decades.

Oh Jessme....your ring is just beautiful!!!

No wonder you''ve loved it forever!

I''m a HUGE fan of sq stp cts...or Carre Cut diamonds. In fact I prefer them for eternity bands over asschers. Because the corners aren''t clipped, there are no windmills, and the look of the stones is cleaner, less ''cluttered''. I think that in smaller stones, they have more of a "bottomless well" look than traditional asschers do.

They are very bright, and have an almost mirror-y glow to them.

Here''s a picture of one of two sidestones in an antique ring of mine, along with a GIA plot.

Lucky you to have possession of that treasure!

Wow, your ring is gorgeous! I love it!!! It looks great on you and I love the cut of those diamonds! Carre cut...you learn something new every day!

Wow, I love it!!!!
Very beautiful, and it has a cool story behind it!

HI:

Stunning ring--really wonderful!

cheers--Sharon

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments. Well I guess I did learn its a Carre Cut and its not as uncommon as I thought. Its just that in search of my e-ring they never listed that cut.

Wow, that is so awesome!!!! Gorgeous and quite the treasure!

What a beautiful ring! You are such a lucky girl to have possession of that treasure!

That''s a gorgeous ring! I love it!!!

You''re a lucky girl!!!! That is a gorgeous ring! You''re right...the last prongs are a bit wonky, but a new setting would truly show those beauties off!

Beautiful stones! I would absolutely get an appraisal and reset them in a platinum truffle style setting.

Of course, there is no telling what someone like....say.... Leon Mege could create for those beauties....

How lucky can you get!
