Right after Christmas, I dreamed up a setting for my new diamond I purchased preloved.
The diamond is possibly transitional or European (not OEC) cut, with a highish crown but shallow pavilion. Diameter is 7.12 mm. I couldn't measure the depth while set, so asked if they'd weigh it when they had it unset. Because of how shallow it was, I guessed it would weigh 1.18 ct. Loose, it actually weighed 1.27 ct. It faces more like a 1.35 ct.
The setting I bought it in was super temporary as it appeared it was made for an oval stone. And set way too high. So I figured since I didn't love the setting, I'd make a new one.
My original post about my thoughts was in rocky talky.

I did end up having them turn the basket 90 degrees, and it looks super!!
Here are too many photos.
