My mom lost her ring in the ocean... and she’s so sad! It was “just” a yellow gold band with channel set diamonds, from a “maul” store, but it was meaningful to her. I told her: don’t worry mama, I’m going to find you something even better!!!

She never wears yellow gold accessories, so I’m trying to get her to consider the white metals. Main thing is budget: my mom is SO down to earth, to the point it is almost annoying ;)

She is around size 9.5 and would probably want a ring that is simple and not too flashy. I found a cool solitaire on eBay, I might go for that, but I wanted to see if you guys had any cool ideas I can show my dear mom first.

It can be a wedding band or a wedding set. She lives on a hobby farm so it can’t be delicate or something that would catch on things.
The budget is not firm because I could secretly chip in... so I guess $1500 USD would be max. Preloved is fine.

Thanks in advance!

I don’t have any links to share but there is a style of ring called Boat, that is I suppose Victorian English. The stones are set down into a band and that makes it comfortable and safe but not channel set. Here”s a pic of mine, I bought it from CJ Antiques website but they are also on eBay. There are many sellers who have this style. I’ve worn mine for years and it’s super comfortable and low-key, but substantial. The one on the left.

Oh thank you!! That is a really fantastic idea. You’ve really captured the kind of style my mom would be into. I’ll scope out ruby lane :)

Gilded Lane have pretty vintage engagement rings and bands..but a lot of them are new old stock. One of the girls on here has a beautiful ring from them..I can’t remember who.. but check out her shop.

RubyLane is having a sale starting Friday and I believe items included in the sale are 50% off. You can preview the items here:

Sorry to hear that! I can imagine how she would be upset. Would you ultimately love an set if you could for that money? I'm thinking bezel set ring or low 6 prong with a half band? If not, what about a Cartier rolling ring or something similar to that? I have the x size & I love it. That might also be a good idea with a low key e ring. $1500 all in U.S? And will you be going to the US to pick it up or delivered? LOL So nosy! ;-) I loved buying stuff for my mom. She's gone now but it brings warm memories when I go through her jewelry & a lot of it was something I had bought her. Does she have a favourite colour gemstone?

If you like the idea of skinny rolling ring, I'd buy the 3 white gold ones. Mine are skinny but I like that so it doesn't take up much space. She can also add a stacker band too later on.

This looks pretty nice & lux for the money. It is 3mm & not sure if too wide.

Diamond: I like this one. Looks like a high J & the size is good.

Low set 6 prong basket solitaire

Double prong

Bezel. Besides it looking bigger, the stone is more covered up hiding tint.

Band:
Not sure how eye clean the stones are as I just realized they are SI1-SI2. :-/

Or go for a rolling ring which I think the larger size is $397 if the skinny ones are too skinny. But remember, there are 3 of them so they should have a nice width on the finger.

Blue Nile..
Diamonds: The diamonds are better clarity for pretty much the same money. I found more J's that anything else. The 2 I's are high clarity & $882 & $896 & specs are nice. I'd buy one of these then buy the e-ring at JA. LOL

E-ring: Not a great selection for E-rings.

Bands
Band is 50% off. 18K but only goes to an 8.5. I wonder if they can size it to a 9.5. She may not be flashy but it's 50% off. and she may like that. LOL

Here's the rest of them. LOL The braided ones are pretty & platinum is reasonably priced.

Ok, if I find anything else I'll post. I'll let the other ladies look for something interesting. LOL

There you are! I LOVE their rings!

Aw sad. Hopefully some of the Black Friday sales will lead to some good deals!

And I second the DK band. It’s lovely and understated!

This is very like the one she lost, except in platinum. It could work! Thank you!!

Thanks for the CJ ideas! Their prices seem decent.

What about a trio (or even pair?) of these cute bezel stackers from OWD?

I just adore them. It would be a fun mix of metals too.

Oh I love that idea! Or one bezel ring with a rolling ring band.

This one is a 9 ½

Also, I’m not affiliated with them. Just one of their customers.

I like this one.

She likes diamonds and amethyst. I think she wouldn’t feel a coloured stone looks like a wedding ring though. I looooove your idea of the rolling ring. I think she’d find it comfortable and beautiful. We’ll see what she says! But a rolling ring with a bezel diamond ring would be comfy and smooth.

Wow that’s a whole lotta ring for a solid price! I dig it! Looks regal. I’ll see what my mom says!

Good point about how the bezel would cover up the colour from the side. I am loving the bezel idea!

OK, we need details on the Rose Cut ring if you've not already posted them... ;))

pearaffair - have you seen this DK band? :)
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/platinum-1ct-baguette-engraved-dk-band.241710/

It’s a very nice band but it wouldn’t be my preference to size it up two sizes.

I said Gilded Lane but meant to say Gilded Times on Etsy. There is a Gilded Lane and there is a diamond band on there in your price range but I don’t know the size..Maybe it can be resized..

I don't know if anyone has bought from Rockher, but they have some incredible prices on their settings right now, and a lot of halo's. Amethysts are inexpensive stones so that is a bonus. LOL I know there are sales everywhere as well. You're going to find something that's a given. ;-)

If your mom has a hobby farm, I'd stay away from colored stones. I just don't think they have the durability from the abrasions that a farm produces.

I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post here because they’re moissies. I have a thread in Fabulous Fashion Jewlery called Rose cuts if you’re interested :P2

.

I love that too! I just bought a rolling ring and I LOVE it! The only thing I don't love is that I don't have anything that pairs well with it (for now :Up_to_something2:) I think the little bezels would be so fun and interesting, and very wearable for her hobby farm!

This one could work: $700

I feel so bad for her!

Some food for thought- my last piece of jewelery I wear daily is currently being set in a bezel. Although I love the looks of prongs, they annoy me when I wear them. Since your mom has worn a channel set ring this entire time, and the fact she’s low maintainence and works with her hands all day, I would strongly suggest getting another channel set band or a bezel. I would hate for her to not wear her new ring because she was afraid of it snagging or bending a prong while doing daily activities.

Can’t wait to see what you end up getting her :mrgreen2:
