it is a beautiful ring, don't get me wrong.. i just specified that i did not want the diamond set so low that it rests on my finger..and low and behold, it does... (i can't post any pics yet, because my fiance hasn't even seen it yet and i need to show him first.. sorry guys! :(sad )

what should i DO??????? has this happened to anyone before? would leon change it? i'm so scared, i feel a little bit like jell-o

please give me some advice! i'm gonna throw up i think.. (sorry for the dramatics, but i really don't feel good!)

Oh nooooo! Honey!! Sh*t. I don't know what to tell you to do, just to say how sorry I am.

if you dont love it ask him to fix it to match your request

I'm so sorry it didn't turn out as you wanted. I know you must be upset. ;( I would call him if I were you (not e-mail as he doesn't seem to do well with that method of communication). Explain to him that it sits too low and see what he's willing to do. If you don't talk to him you'll probably be spending a lot of time getting worked up over this and it might not be necessary. Do you have this detail in writing?

I hope it gets resolved so that you love your ring!

I feel your pain! Mine was set too high. Admittedly, it was not a Leon. Does anyone have experience with Leon and getting changes done? Perhaps we can reassure OP?

my experience was not good. however it was more comprehensive. if this is an easy fix perhaps it will be painless

Oh no - I'm so sorry to hear this! (Especially since I started another Leon thread a few days ago asking about experiences...And just sent my stone off to him yesterday  )

As part of my Leon research I remember coming across this thread on the same subject by Panda08 - I hope she doesn't mind me posting it here but I found it enlightening but also a little dismaying: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-re-vamped-leon.99907/

Does the culet acutally touch your finger? Would you mind sharing how the setting height was addressed in the work order? Does he specify the height at all? If so, that might be a recourse, since from your first post it doesnt sound like you told him "as low as possible" ?

Most of Leon's settings seem to have the stone set low because the basket is part of the band, unlike some settings where the prong plug sits on top. The settings he shows on his website all look like relatively low-set stones. Personally that's what I like about his style.

I wouldn't hold my breathe about Leon remaking your entire setting unless they clearly didn't follow your instructions. But you know what you asked for and it should be in writing. If it's a simple solitaire they should be able to do something but you might need to pay for the change. Leon is not as generous with their "remake" time as some of the other vendors.

I do hope you are able to get it to the point of "loving it".

Give him a call and see what he offers to do. No one can really tell you for sure what he would do and since you're the paying customer, I'd ask. Beats sitting around and being sick over it - I'm sure he'll try to help you!

Let us know how it goes. . .

First off, I'm so sorry you're not 100% happy. *hugs*

Just go ahead and call him and talk to him. See what options you have available.

Oh sammie, you poor dear! You must feel so disappointed. I would send an email right away - put your concerns in writing. Follow-up with a phone call.

Is the culet touching your finger?? I hope it's not that bad.

Would you consider living with it for a while to see if it grows on you? Of course, still send the email, but maybe you'll wind up liking it.

thanks love street.. i suggest being very up front with leon about your expectations, and be extremely clear.. we kind of had a hard time communicating so i guess that translated into my ring.. but the one thing i was NOT unclear about was that i didn't want the stone to look like it was resting on my finger. i think on his work order the style default is "set as low as possible", and i even crossed that out and wrote "to be discussed" and we talked about it over the phone and i even emailed him the points we talked about after that conversation...

i dunno :errrr:

thank you everyone for your kind words... i'd reply to you all individually, but i have to get ready for work soon

as far as how low it is...it's as low as it could possibly get.. it looks like the bottom of the culet reaches the top of the donut

i'm not sure if he even could very easily raise it up because the metal around just below the diamond's girdle (he called it the upper bezel) has pave diamonds (which, btw, the metal edges of the pave were supposed to have millegrain, which it doesn't  )

and the upper bezel is also kinda crooked  AND you can't even really see the pave because the shoulders of the band are so close to it....so i made my fiance pay roughly a grand more, for nothing! i can't even tell him i feel like this cuz i had to persuade him to let me do all this.. i think i'm gonna cry!

i shoulda just gone with tacori...at least i could have seen it first

what was i thinking?!

I dont know if it is quality control issues or passive aggressiveness on his part (about what he thinks should be done) but I had similar issues: much of the pave I requested was not done nor was the milgrain but the side stones were twice as big as they were supposed to be. ..................good luck

Oh Sammie - I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. Thanks so much for your advice. It does seem like if "As Low As Possible" was X'ed out on the work order, it should not have been made ALAP nontheless... which it seems like it was from your description.

And I'm so sorry about the other issues...Lack of milgrain? At least that seems like justification enough to send it back if it was part of the original order. Is the crookenes of the bezel maybe just an artifact of a hand fabricated piece? (trying to be optimistic...) Argh I really hope he can help resolve the issues.

Good luck.

sammie this must feel like crap I'm so sorry. But frankly, I am not sorry the tide seems to be turning against LM on PS, with posters not just accepting incorrect or shoddy work just because its a Leon. I too recall when Panda had the same problem, and she now has a lovely JbEG setting, so I'm guessing she didnt 'learn to love it'. Sammie it sounds as if you have multiple concerns which go beyond the diamond height. Others may disagree with me, but my advice would be to come clean to your guy-this is not your fault. I would then have him negotiate with Leon to have the ring made to a better standard, including the correct detailsdetails. Yep, before I get jumped on this goes against every independent feminine instinct I have-but the man is what he is. And if he deals better with men than this is the shortest way ultimately for Sammie to get the ring they paid for and she requested. Best of luck Sammie *hugs*

good advice (thats how i managed to get some of the corrections FWIW)

He had the work order which listed milgrain and pave, and he just doesn't do it? I would be saying REFUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is why I never deal with Leon.

Milgrain can be added if thats what you want. The height may be more of a challenge. I think costs will all come down to whats on the work order.

Okay vent for a couple of days be upset, get it out of your system.
Whomever communicates with Leon should take the emotion out of it.
First write him a clear, concise(keep it short a couple of lines) email, point by point with the problems with the ring, keep the colored and emotional comments out of it.

This is a contractual business transaction, cite what was not followed point by point.
1) best is what was not followed on the work order
2) second best is what was in a written email,
3) third best is verbal instructions (at least cite day and time of discussion if you remember)

If you can prove your instructions were not followed and keep it short and to the point he may just remake it for you with no hassles.
Then wait for his response by email if it doesn't come within a day or two, when you are calm have someone call him and go over what you put in the email.

I wish you a painless, inexpensive, and swift reconciliation.

Good-luck,
CCL

GREAT advice CCL! :praise:

CCL has excellent advice.

Not liking what you requested is completely different then LM not producing what your work order says. And missing or crocked anything is not acceptable from any vendor.

By the way, when there was a flaw in my LM ring, Leon quickly corrected it and paid for shipping. He worked on it after I had it for 3 years.

Passive aggressive? That's just nuts that a customer would have to deal with that (or even just simply *wonder* if the guy is acting out)! Sigh.

Hope all works out, Sammie!

I am so sorry, this is anyone's worst fear when it comes to a custom project. I hope you reach a resolution soon, because in the end you have every right to be absolutely thrilled with your creation.

I don't think it comes down to just a matter a taste, he did not follow what was agreed upon it seems. He should make it right.

Let us know how it goes.

I have nothing but words of comfort. I am so sorry that this has happened! :(

Two thoughts:

1. What does it say on the work order? Does it specify how low it will be set including mm range?

2. I find that I am usually not blown away as soon as I see something (ie. my Maytal ring). I love it now and wouldn't change it.

sammie: I am really sorry your ring didn't turn out as you planned. CCL gave some excellent advice as to how to address the situation. I am writing simply to say that I hope everything gets worked out to your satisfaction. It would be a shame to not be able to enjoy your engagement ring.

My heart goes out to you. I hope all turns out well for you. I'll cross my fingers that LM will understand your dilemma and fix it to your liking.

I heard recently that LM stopped sending out pictures of the completed rings that they used to and all the other vendors still do. Shame, because I recently placed an order, and when I saw the glamor shots I noticed a small error that I emailed about before the bling was shipped. It was fixed quickly with no hassle to me at all. Ii it's true that Leon stopped sending out the pics I wonder if it's because of how many orders he's doing differently than the customer wants.

I agree...
