Dani - thanks I''m actually leaning towards the .30. Maybe I should settle at .35. LOL.

Charmypoo - Love your new avatar. Is that your kitty? So cute. Mark didn''t tell me the name of who cut it, so I still don''t really know that. LOL. Well, Mark just said he knows the guy who cut my stone and that he is in Antwerp and he''s the only one doing this type of cut. How''s your ring going? Any news?

Lesco - i LOVE your ring. So pretty! Leon does beautiful work!

So does anyone know about the certificate/non-certificate question for side stones? Maybe I should start another topic for this question.

actual accent side stones (as oposed to large stones that make up a true 3 stone ring) are almost never certed: exceptions would be say 3 royal asschers or a 3 stone Tiffany. if the stones are above a carat each or are traditional cuts like a round or EC --then possibly.. my center is 5 andmy sides are .51 each..............no certs.

That is the newest addition to our family. The boyfriend has been asking for a kitty for a while (our family cats stayed with our families when we moved out). I got her for his birthday - we couldn''t decide on a name and kept calling her "cat". Now her name is "Kit Kat" since I name all my furbabies after food.

Our diamond has been sitting with Maytal for months! She is probably starting to think that we sent it to her as a gift.

If you are not planning on ever reselling this ring, I personally wouldn''t worry about it. And that would be neat to have stones cut from the same guy who did your center! As for the size, I''m not much help as I''d need to see them next to it to really give an opinion.

Ellen brings up an excellent point. I love the idea of your side stones being by the same cutter...especially one who is obviously so talented. Would not worry about the certs.

Glad to hear the visit went well. BTW, does Mark have any idea when his site will be back up? Feel so badly for him and his potential customers.

Bgray - your rings sounds amazing! You must post some photos when you can!

Charmypoo - I''m in love with Kit Kat, she is so cute, she could be a kitty model! How is your dog getting along with Kit Kat? As for your ring, hey you could always do a three stone mini like me? Whatever you decide I know it will be stunning, Maytal''s work is to die for!

Ellen - Yes, I don''t think I''d plan on reselling the ring, just one day trading up for bigger diamonds.

It''s a addiction. LOL. Mark said I could pay to get them certified, I think he said it was $75 each, so I might spring for that. And I do wish I brought my camera. Dang it! I wonder if there is a program online that lets me create it.

Smalltowngirl - Yes, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of using the same cutter, especially since it''s not that expensive and I just think it would be really neat! So that''s the way I''m going to go. Now I''ve got to decide on the size. Hmmm....decisions, decisions.

As for Mark''s site, he didn''t say when it will be back up, but he''s very stressed out about it as you can imagine. So hopefully, ASAP. He was happy to hear that PS members were getting the word out about his site and that it''s still business as usual and he''s ok, it''s just his site that''s having issues.

Goobear,

Thanks so much for the updates. Cannot wait to see whatever you end up with. It is going to be simply sensational.

Was rereading your posts about the Mark visit and you really piqued my interest. What is it about your diamond cut that only the fella in Antwerp does?

Your search is becoming more fascinating and compelling to follow with each post....am learning so much.

Goobear,
When you talk about upgrading your stone, do you mean only the center? Are you planning on putting it in a different setting when you upgrade? If you are planning on upgrading only your center stone but want to keep the same setting, you might should go with the bigger side stones. If you are planning on completely resetting your upgraded stone or if you plan on upgrading the center and side stones, I say go with the smaller sides.

Smalltowngirl - well according to Mark, the cutter in Antwerp is the only one doing the 8 cut pavilions cushions now. There was 3 people cutting them before and now only the one guy does it because it is better to cut rounds for more $. I think that''s the story, but I''m not entirely sure.

Dazzle66 - When I talk about upgrading, it''s kinda like a pipedream, LOL. Someday it will happen, just no idea when. My guess is when I upgrade to that big 2.5ct+ in the sky, I''ll get an entirely new setting for the new stone. I guess what I would do, if my husband doesn''t divorce me first (LOL) is take the center stone I have now and make that a necklace, then use the 3 stone setting I''m going to make into a right hand ring and put a nice gemstone in there and then of course rock my new rock on my engagement ring with an entirely new band. Is it sad that I''ve already got an upgrade planned out before my ring is made. LOL. And you know what if none of that happens, I''ll just love the ring I''m getting.

For some reason I have a feeling to go with the smaller stones. One reason being is that I love my cousin''s ER. It''s an oval center (2ct prob) with two small rounds on each side. It''s low set and very pretty. So that''s kinda what I have in mind only with cushions. But Mark and his designer thought the .40 would look best and I trust his judgment too.

Thanks Dogmom! I''m really digging Mark''s work.

I''m not sure if Leon would even give me or my stone a second thought if I don''t call him. My guess is no. I called him last Friday about the pears he was holding and he forgot who I was. No joke. He thought I was a real estate broker.

He also made is very clear to me that Pricescope was just a small portion of his work.
Hi again,
I''m glad you''ve found a jeweller with whom you''re happy.
That Leon! He''s asked me who made my ring!!!!

Too funny!

I happen to like the smaller stones too Goobear but I guess you cannot go wrong with either choice. Thank you so much for the compliments on my ring!

Did I miss something? Did you decide on a jeweler?

No. I didn''t decide on a jeweler. Not yet at least. But I am pretty sure I''m going to opt for the smaller stones. Just don''t know if I should get a .30 or a .35. The .40 while very lovely, was just a bit to big. And it seems the consensus on the board is for the smaller stones which is what my gut was telling me to do. I love PS!

Hey Goo-- sorry I never followed up on your question about single prongs. I have a stone smaller than yours (I think your is a perfect size, FYI) and I looked at settings for a long time and at stones of all different sizes paying special attention to prongs. While I love and adore claw prongs, what I like best are prongs that just disappear and really let the stone show itself off, and for me that''s single prongs on most ''regular'' sized stones. Your diamond won''t FALL OUT with single prongs. As someone said, Leon was just stated what his preferences were, but as fact.

I''m glad you aren''t working with him. Personally, if I had been in your shoes, I would have told me man off there and then.

I would be fine with uncertified side stones, but if it''s $75 each, I might just go do the certification. And I too would prefer the .3 to the larger sides.

I think your ring is going to be amazing, and I can''t wait to see it. Sorry you''ve been put through so much angst. ((HUGS))

Oops. I thought you had decided on a jeweller. Sorry.

Nope, not yet. LOL. Well a normal, non-PS member would have picked a jeweler already.

I decided to go with the .30 stones. I just think that would compliment the center stone best. And I''m going to pay the extra $ to get them certified just incase I need it one day.

I''m excited. I don''t know when or how long it will take, but I''ll keep you updated.

Now I''ve got to figure out whose going to do the setting.

Will be so excited to follow the process as you design your ring. Have you narrowed your choices re who will be making it?

BTW, great choices on the side stones and getting the certs. I predict we''re all going to be so jealous of your finished product!

So the contact Mark has with the cutter actually had another pair of .30 cushions. They both come with GIA. The stats are as follows:

.31
E
VS1
4.20x4.19x2.63
table: 59%
D:62.7%

.31
F
VVS2
4.26x4.24x2.66
table: 59%
d:62.8

I''ve included pictures with my center stone. Could you please let me know what you think. I think they look great, but I was concerned that they are not exact measurement wise. Mark said it''s about as exact as you can get. You really can''t tell much of a difference. I don''t know if I''d get better having them cut exactly the same proportions for each side stone of just go with these, so your impute would be great. Also since one is an e and one is an f should I be concerned? Thanks!

Also, keep in mind it was hard to get the cushions to sit perfectly. So if one looks a little crooked that''s due to me and not the stone. LOL.

One more shot....

last one...

I think they look fine goo! And in that first pic where they are almost sitting on their corners, it made me think that would be a neat way to set them in a ring. I like it. Not for yours I mean, but just for in the future, maybe for moi.

Also, I see absolutely no problem with an E and F, at all.

Ellen - that would be a nice ring!

So anyone else have a thought? Do you think they look good together or do they detract from the center stone?

OMG, they look fabulous!!! I don''t think they''ll detract from the center stone at all. It will be absolutely STUNNING!!!!!

Big fat ditto!

Awww....thanks luvmyhalo & dreamer_dachsie, that''s just what I needed! Sometimes when you are so close to a project, it''s hard to tell how stone work together. I personally thought they looked great, but I wanted to make sure that with the stats and pic that they didn''t look off or like one was out of place.

They are simply amazing! Cannot wait to see the finished ring.

Oh Goo ! They are stunning - I''m so glad Mark is working with you to finally make your dream ring..they look gorgeous and I think they match perfectly.

Ohhhh gorgeous! I don''t think they detract from the main stone at all, they enhance it

Can''t wait to see your finished ring!
