It''s so beautiful!!! I love OECs for the colors that pop out in each facet. It''s kind of like wearing a watercolor painting on your finger!

I wish this wasn''t so blurry - but you get the idea!
your ideal d is so nice but honestly - years of abuse and all I think I''d pick the OEC! Of course lucky you to get one of *each* :D I''m a chunk facet girl through and through....

hey - which has better sparkle - or can you describe the diff between your oec melee single cuts and your rb surprise melee?

Hmm - well looking at them side by side, there are differences.

I think the OEC single cuts are a bit larger than the surprise ones on the Jaffe. The single cuts look to be bead set, whereas the Jaffe ones are bezel set (deeply). Looking at the Jaffe, if you see the 3 surprise diamonds on each side, I feel like the left and right ones just don''t add much to the ring, and if I had it to do over, I think I''d leave them off to be honest. The one at the bottom of the "V" that forms the basket of the stone is ok. BUT - all of them are bezel set, and from a normal somewhat top-down angled view, they just look dead (ya know how stones get dark when you turn them in certain directions relative to a light source, etc). If I take the ring off and hold it in my hand and move it around, the diamonds look fine - i.e. they do sparkle / return light (as much as they can - they''re really small!).

The OEC single cuts look bead set, with milgraining around them as well. So the "look" from a distance is enhanced by the presence of the irregular metal surface. They are tiny stones too, but I think I see more movement in them as opposed to the Jaffe surprise stones (proabably because the individual facets are bigger in the single cuts).

I believe Leon Mege uses single cut melee for this very reason...

Here Cehra - maybe this will help -

Here you can see just how deeply into the shank the melee are set in the Jaffe, and also can see a reflecting facet in one of the single cuts to the right of the OEC.

Yes... good shot of what you were talking about! One of the things I love about my ring is that they''re at a 45 degree angle so you can see them equally from the side as you can from the top but the best view is right between the two and that''s the most comfortable angle to view it, like if it wer eon my finger now as I type ;-) I''m also having it bead set so I''m glad you think that''s more visible.... of course as far as cut is concerned, I''m rethinking the H&A thing... I do love the chunks!!
