More On That Villain, Trump

I'm sorry...

I hit a brick wall at the thought of having a playboy model for a first lady.

I know, I know...get with the times HOUSECAT!!! Don't be such a prude!!! It's totally fine to have a white supremacist and a playboy model in the white house!!!

Screw it! We're all a bunch of classless hillbillies to the rest of the world anyway, might as well play the friggin part!

The people who are voting for this A$$ really complain about Obama, huh?

:?: :?: :?:

I really don't understand the fascination with every single thing Trump says or does and I sometimes wonder if he is what he is because of people's obsession (both positive and negative) with him. I don't like him, but I have no interest in adding to the crazy either because it only makes it/him bigger.

Right. Ignore him. Close your eyes and he'll go away.

^No, I didn't say ignoring him was the answer either. Clearly, I don't have the answers and I've never claimed to.
I simply wonder if he wouldn't be so fascinating if people (and the media) didn't make him so fascinating. I get that he's running for president, so it's impossible to ignore him, but the constant reminders (good and bad) have certainly aided him in his popularity.
I get that Trump is a train wreck and I'd love nothing more than to see him go away, but I also know that people think what they want to think and no thread, or FB post, or tweet, etc. is going to change that :(( I certainly can't blame you for trying and yes, people have the right to know about these sorts of things, but I also can't help but feel like any publicity (even bad publicity) is encouraging the crazy to continue (and grow).

It's like watching a very bad, painful reality TV show! Each exchange more shocking then the last.

Yes, and it should come as no surprise that many of those very bad, painful reality tv shows are also some of the most popular....

OK so sort of a threadjack but this just struck me as both funny and sad when I saw it yesterday and this seems like a good place to share it. Please stop reading if you are easily offended as I am posting some profanity and don't want to offend anyone.

I was out with a friend walking around our neighborhood and we passed a young man (twenties/thirties or so) wearing a Tshirt (no jacket it was beautiful out yesterday afternoon) that said...FUC* TRUMP. Except it didn't have the star but instead had the K in its place.  I mean at first I wasn't sure what to think because I don't like people wearing profanity out in public for little kids to see. It doesn't feel right or OK but then I just started laughing because well the message is so appropriate and I can see why one would want to wear the shirt. OMG and LOL.

If you offend easily stop reading/looking. Here's a similar T. The difference is that this person's T was all white with black lettering.

I can see the humor in it, but as a mother of young kids, I don't think it's appropriate to wear in public. I would think that you'd likely even get kicked out of many public spaces - my gym, for example, has a rule about not wearing overly graphic t-shirts. I suppose if you're just going for a walk, it gets your point across, but Im not not much into profanity.

Somehow I do not think that the person who chose to wear the shirt was about to try to enter any elegant establishment, although I could be wrong. As far as harming children...I don't believe seeing a profane word does that. My daughter was far too innocent to have noticed a shirt like that until she was about 15. (She didn't watch television at home, by the way. Her father and I gave it up when she was born.) From what I have heard, the other children are more likely to expose kids to profanity early. That is assuming that you control the movies your children attend. I watched like a hawk, not because I worried about profanity, but because my daughter cried if an animal died.

Lol! If my nearly 4-year old saw that shirt she would immediately start spelling out the letters and ask me "what does that spell, Mommy?" There is a learning opportunity in everything, so for me, I would have explained what it spelled and let her know it's one of those words we don't say in polite company, and that there are better ways to express ourselves. As for profanity being inappropriate in public, I can't shield my child from seeing graffiti, hearing other kids and adults swearing, etc. I don't believe in censorship.

I have more of a problem with the kid (must have been about 10 or 11) who yelled out the bus window at me yesterday "I'm Chinese and I'm gonna eat your dog!" as I was walking my dog in our neighborhood. THAT kind of racist, nasty, xenophobic hate speech makes me seethe with rage much more than my child being exposed to profane language. :angryfire:

Thanks for bringing it to MY attention--I had no idea what my post count was! Hey, YOU are nearly at 15k yourself. This is kind of a coincidence in a couple ways. First, that you and I are at nearly the same post count, and second that my daughter and I had a "just because" party last night while her daddy was working. She asks me all the time when there will be another party, and night before last I promised her we would have our own little party because no one else was having one this week. Apparently there WAS something to celebrate--my very important PS post count. LOL Here is a picture of our "party." Really it was just after-school dinner for two using china and wearing party dresses. I wish you had been there, Deb! (There was cake!) :wavey:

Oh! The party was beautiful! It reminds me of an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party somehow. Thank you so much for sharing that.

Big hugs,

Niel, I can't open the link either and I have a FB account, so that's not the problem...

I wouldn't wear that T-shirt or any other T-shirt with a political candidate's name, b/c all it takes is one crazy person whom opposes that candidate to shoot you.

I didn't say anything about elegant establishments. I said my gym, which is hardly elegant. I know other public spaces that might prohibit those sorts of graphic clothing items too, so it's not necessarily about how "elegant" someplace is.
As far as kids and profanity, sure, they hear it, see it, etc., but personally, I refrain from saying it around my kids (and I do y best to limit their exposure by monitoring what they watch on tv, what they do online, etc.) and I certainly wouldn't wear it because it's offensive. My children are much younger than 15 and I can assure that they would both notice a t shirt with the f-word on it. I didn't say it was harmful - I just think it's inappropriate.

Is this the verbatim re-enactment of the Trump interview? The link isn't working for me either, but I have seen it and it is mind blowing.

For those who want to see it, Google "verbatim re-enactment trump interview". The Daily Show's black Trump does it. It is SO amazing how ridiculous Trump's words and actions look when someone else acts them out.

The Republicans and Fox created Trump.

Their divisive, nasty rhetoric over the last few years have angered a portion of the population and that portion have been looking for a candidate. They wanted a candidate that was as nasty, uncouth, loud-mouthed, and asinine as they are. Someone that could fill the shoes of their beloved, brainless, "maverick", Sarah Palin. They found it in Trump.

As you sow, so shall you reap.

The Republicans talked about a "Washington outsider", "someone not afraid to speak their mind".

All Trump is doing is calling their bluff.

(haven't been reading these threads, pretty sure someone must have already covered this. Oh, and also someone probably pointed out this pointed out this scene from Idiocracy, the movie that predicted our current situation:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGUNPMPrxvA )

If it's any consolation, my aunt, who Loooooved Palin, is planning on voting for Hillary.

I have not seen the video and do not know if it is accurate. I did hear, on a fairly erudite radio station a day or so ago, that Donald Trump was interviewed by a very serious group of people in Washington. It might have been at, "The Washington Post". The only name I recall from the program was Ruth Marcus. She was present at this meeting. The two hosts of the radio show to which I was listening discussed the questions Mr. Trump was asked and his responses. To some very serious questions he was asked, he answered by telling the women in the room how attractive they were. It was almost surreal. I do not know if this is even the same interview. I will now go to watch "The Daily Show" re-enactment of it.

That's rich, Dancing Fire. I bet that you are a big believer in "law and order" and punishing the "criminal" rather than the society who created him. Yet here you are, being an apologist for a villain. It isn't poor Trump's fault that that he is a bigot and a misogynist. Obama forced him to be one. Sometimes the irony is just too much.
