Mistake made. What do you recommend?

I just got word from my jeweler that my eternity band is ready. Yippee!!! However, it was made in platinum instead of the white gold I requested. My solitaire is white gold and I chose that metal because I feel it's best for my tastes and lifestyle. If I wanted both in platinum, I would have ordered them that way.

I was offered the platinum eternity at no additional charge. I was also offered the eternity to wear while they remake my ring in white gold. What would you recommend? I understand there are advantages and disadvantages to each metal. I also understand that you don't want to mix metals. Since the only metal showing on the eternity will be on the sides, would you take it? I do plan on wearing a rose gold spacer so I am not worried about the eternity damaging the solitaire.

Seems like a clear cut answer. I guess I'm tempted to take the platinum eternity now since I'll be getting a "deal". Would it really matter to have a solitaire in white gold and eternity in platinum????

Thanks for your advice!

If you are wearing a spacer... I'd just keep the platinum one.

I wear my platinum e-ring with a white gold stacker sometimes. Okay so... once every couple months. But they both seem to be okay.

Keep the platinum. Youdidget a deal. I wear my plat next to my white gold regularly. Love platinum. Super sturdy. :)

Wow you are lucky :appl: . Keep the plat I mix mine up all the time.

Platinum worth more eternal ...and no differeence in color I wear both WG and Plat together every day

definitely keep it! that's an amazing mistake haha

I would keep the platinum. In full disclosure I love platinum. The sides of your rings get scratched no matter the metal anyway so I think platinum will be great and you wont have to get it plated.

Definitely keep it!

+4 keep the platinum. I have both and mix them all the time and no one's ever commented, and I don't care, and I'm reasonably picky with my whites and silvers and very color sensitive. Also, a better metric - I've never looked at anyone's jewellery and noticed white gold vs platinum - whether you have may be a good indicator of whether you should keep this one. Also, different platinum and white gold alloys and karats look somewhat different anyhow.

Thanks everyone! Looks like I got a deal :appl: I will keep the platinum eternity.

I wear them together. Yes, there is a subtle color difference, but doubt anyone else can see it!

Pictures?

Here are some photos. I just picked up the eternity. I can't tell the difference between the metals. The solitaire is 18k white gold. Not sure about the mixture, but it isn't rodium plated. I'm told it will stay as white as it currently is. I will do a "show me the bling" thread later when I'm not on my cell. I like it. I think it's an improvement from my old setting:-)

Glad you kept the plat. I can't see a color difference in your photos. Lovely rings. Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing the pics, I think it goes really well with your engagement ring. I love the look of a scalloped-edge eternity band! I can't wait to see your thread. :wavey:

Do you mind answering a question on your engagement ring? I LOVE THE SETTING.. would you mind saying where you got it? I apologize in advance and ignore this if you do.. I would love a mistaken of plat when I asked for white gold.. no having to get the rhodium.. beautiful BEAUTIFUL new ring and it stuns with your ER. wear in happiness, I would!

Tekate- Thank You. Both rings were made by Joshua J in Los Angeles. I'm based in Michigan and its a line my jeweler carries. I was impressed with the company. If you check out their website you will see some beautiful pieces! Their workmanship is awesome.

Ooh it's beautiful! I love your eternity, no surprise there as it's a dead ringer for mine (although in wg).
