Hi all,

I have several meetings set up next week here in NYC to look at antique cushion cut diamonds one of which is with Perry Chen. I know he does not provide ASET images so my question is whether you think I need to buy one of those tools to do the ASET image myself while I am there (not sure what they are called) and if so, if someone could tell me where to buy it! Or do I just rely on Perry's opinion? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure Perry only sells newly cut cushions that are branded antique. They aren't actual antiques to just clarify.

You could get an aset if you wanted. For me personally I never found it to be helpful during my antique cushion search. I went off what facets patterns etc appealed to me. If you are going with a maltese cross pattern make sure you rotate the diamond around to see if the facets are turning off and on correctly. Look at the diamond in different lighteining etc. Cushions are notoriously hard to purchase based off of what's on paper. Searching for an antique cushion is even harder. I would personally save my money and just go off of what appeals to your eyes. I have only found out asets to be helpful with other shapes.

I met with and purchased my OMB from Perry Chen last March. Trust him. I love my stone and the processing of choosing was so easy with him. It is not an antique, but is an antique cut. I could not be happier.

Here's where to buy an ASET scope.
