Measuring calipers and scale tools

I have a few stones where the details were approximate upon purchase or just not documented by me and forgotten.
I'd like to be able to measure these more precisely - weight and mm size.
I was wondering if any PSers have digital measuring calipers or weight scales they can recommend.
I assume scales can be very expensive depending on how sensitive they are to small differences in weight. I think it would be super cool to be able to weigh to the 'third zero' (I'm not a math person, I mean, 0.00X with accuracy to X - lol). But to the second (0.0X) is fine too if its a significant price difference.
Calipers are probably quite a bit simpler but maybe theres more than meets the eye for measuring gems? Especially tiny ones like 1, 2, 3mm? No idea.

Anyone have either of these tools, or some other tool they think might be interesting, and can advise or recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there! These are the two I have... unfortunately, the scale only goes to the second decimal. Mine were both cheap, but they're quite accurate. I'm sure there are much more expensive models of each, but these have worked well for my needs. :)

Calipers

This type with plastic jaws are popular in the gem world as there is less fear of damage to the stone.

Calipers

If you want an accurate scale to 3 decimal places, then the price really goes up and this is what many in the trade use.

Scale

Calipers will be easy to find. Regarding the scale, just get yourself a pocket one that goes to the second decimal space. With scales, prices scale very disproportionately. You can get a pocket scale to the second decimal space for 20 bucks. If you want such a scale that has been certified and licensed, though (although I guess certifications and licensing differ depending on where in the world you live), price climbs 10-20-fold. And you see how it soars with scales that measure up to the third decimal space... it's not worth it for us, mere amateurs. Waaaay too diminishing returns.

Thank you lovely people.

I think I'll go with calipers with plastic jaws, and a scale like the Amazon one above - that is accurate to two decimal places (gosh that's the term I was looking for)

Appreciate the advice!
