Helllo all,

I have a dear friend looking for some advise on an engagement ring. She's quite in love with this style;

http://gerrythejeweler.com/engagement-rings/engagement-rings/halo-engagement-ring-setting-marquise-cut3-2/

but with this basket;

http://gerrythejeweler.com/engagement-rings/engagement-rings/halo-engagement-ring-setting-marquise-cut6-2/

So her questions are..

1. Has any one worked with or know of Gerry the Jewellers work? I couldn't find much for online reviews.

2. Are there any reccomendations for jewelers or companies who do a similar design?

3. Any diamond suggestions? She's looking ~1 ct

I know marquis is a bit on the tricky side, so any input would be beyond helpful.

Thanks all!

I would go through good old gold. Picking marquise is tricky. Can be done though good sites like JA, but they don't have a similar setting unfortunately.

Gold old gold will pick few good ones for them and they can decide between which he likes best.

They sell this brand .

If he has a good budget, though, I'd have a setting made though ERD. They have a great eye for stones and their pave is amazing

So she wouldn't be happy just with number 2? The whole thing, not just the basket?

What is her budget for a center stone?

I couldn't find much without a strong bowtie or poor performance at above 80 points and under 7k and eyeclean.

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/marquise-cut/0.63-carat-d-color-si1-clarity-sku-173800 this one has promise. And it's very budget friendly. Plus in a halo it will look quite impressive.

This one has a bowtie but it's not strong, but other than that is quite nice: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/marquise-cut/1.02-carat-g-color-vs2-clarity-sku-96141

Thanks,

Good old gold is my suggestion as well! I've had a fabulous experience dealing with them.

I believe she likes the pave halo best on the first ring and the smaller style halo stones. Custom would be nice but I'm unsure about the timeline.

Thanks for all the help thus far! Great finds on the stones gypsy. I didn't realize marquis would be so tricky!
