Hello,

I''ve received my diamond from Whiteflash (a beauty - 1.35ct, I, VS2, Ideal) and I''m ready to start on the setting.

I''ve all but decided on Mark Morrell and I''ve recently gotten in contact with him.

I''ll attach some pictures of the ring that I''m using as my inspiration: WestsideLisa''s Channel Set SunBurst design. The only thing I''m going to have changed is to have the channel set diamonds go 3/4 around the band instead of 1/2 way (so as not to see any metal from the top). Her diamond is 1.5, whereas mine is 1.35ct.

Where I need advice is when it comes to the wedding band... I''ll get Mark to make me a channel set eternity band that matches the engagement ring. However, I''d like them to sit as flush together as possible. Would a ring such as this with a matching wedding band sit flush together? Are there any techniques that can be done to cause them to sit flush? That is really the only thing I am worried about regarding this ring... I know Mark will provide a superior product.

Any advice or suggestions are welcome! I look forward to hearing any comments.

Thanks,
Drew

Please let me know what you think!

I don''t know the answers to your questions but that ring is sublime! Love it

Beautiful ring! Perhaps ask Mark to have the head set a tiny bit higher in the shank, so there''s enough height under the head to have a band slide right in there. I don''t know if I''m describing that well, but hopefully you know what I mean.

Thanks, Skippy. I thought so too. It''s that combination of classic simplistic beauty with a little more fire/flair that does it for me...

jstarfireb, I''ll definitely talk to Mark and see what he has to say about the engagement ring to see if any very slight modification can be done to get the wedding band to sit flush against the engagement ring. I wasn''t sure if there are any simple known solutions that I might be overlooking... or even if it''s going to be a problem at all?

Mark has some specific designs that work with his erings. He has designed a band with a very small notch to fit flush against the ering. The prototype he has posted is beadset, but I'm sure he'd be able to modiify it for you. All his pieces are basically custom, so as long as you have him do the design for the band at the same time as the ering it will fit like a glove. I'll go get you a picture.

I can't seem to post to the pictures. Let me see if I can post a link to his webpage which may help. Mark Morrell Jewelry

Upgradable,

Thanks. I did forget to mention that any kind of notch or curve in the wedding band is unacceptable (I''m under strict orders! Though I do agree with my soon-to-be fiancee in not liking the notch/curve on wedding bands). So, why it is a solution, it''s not an option for me. I do appreciate the suggestion though! If you have any others, I''d love to hear them...

If the setting can''t be changed as I suggested earlier (it probably can for a price), consider just getting the flattest plain platinum band you can find, so it slides right in under that little notch that''s under the basket on the e-ring.

The wedding band will definitely be an eternity design that matches the engagement ring... but I''d definitely look into every option as far as getting the two to sit as flush together as possible. Certainly Mark has experience with requests such as this one...

I''m sure he does. I am currently working with him on a ring and in our discussions he has been very willing to make sure I am happy with all details, and does not seem to have a problem altering aspects of his design to ensure flush fit with a wedding band. Good luck - you''ve chosen a beautiful design and I''m sure the finished product will be spectacular.

Thanks! I''m sure it will. Since I''m just getting in contact with Mark, I appreciate you telling me about your experience. I can''t wait to get farther along into it.

I vagely remember Mark making a matching wband sometime? I am sure a PS posted pics but I can''t for the life of me remember who or when. I am sure Mark will be able to give you ideas and advice as far as matching flush bands go, I am sure you wouldn''t be the first person to ask him about it. Don''t forget to post pics!!!

Yep, I''m really excited to see what he has to say. If you remember who it was that you saw with the two bands, please let me know.

I''ll definitely post pics when the process is complete!
