Make a ring shank narrower

Is there any way to make a ring shank narrower? The ring that I have is too wide for my petite fingers. The one down fall that I can see if that there is one diamond on each side of the center stone inset in the shank and that may cause a problem.

Depends on the ring, some can be shaved down slightly but sounds like you have diamonds in the shank, that will probably rule it out, exposing diamond girdle also risk it getting chipped and damaging other rings worn side by side.

Check with the jeweler you bought the ring from.

Like Stone-cold said, it really depends on the ring. My e-ring band was originally 4mm wide, which was too wide in my opinion, and I had it shaved down to 2.7mm (that was the thinnest the jeweler could go because of the side diamonds). I am SO much happier with the made-over version:
