We understand you loss!We know that even though its not a living thing that its a really important thing and we wont belittle your loss or feelings at all.I think each one of us fear your experiance on a daily basis when we wear jewelry givin us by a loved one.Dont give up to soon. There is a chance that they will be found(really)!

Oh, Basil, I''m so, so sorry. That is heartbreaking. I am saying a prayer to St. Anthony (patron saint of lost stuff) for you right now. He often comes through for me.

Oh no!! I`m so sorry to hear about your rings! I`m sending lots of hugs and dust your way and truly hope some good soul will return them.

Everytime I go to surgery I get scared myself about losing my rings, I have tried everything from WG chain, to pin in the scrubs, but now I just leave them in my locker hidden under clothes. That''s nowhere near fullproof either though... Last week I actually came close to losing my rings when I was in a rush and took out the clothes from the locker without taking out the rings first as I usually do, got dressed and was about to leave the locker room when I realised I didn''t have my rings on. Terrifying 10 minutes followed when I was looking for them... Thank goodness I found them. But I worked up quite a sweat so I can imagine how awful you must feel. I really hope your rings will find their way back to you!

Oh I feel you pain, I know how you feel, and I am sorry you are going through this.

Hopefully, someone with a good heart found your rings and sees the signs you put up.

I''m so sorry to hear that-keeping everything crossed that they show up.

Oh Basil.......my dear I am sending you the biggest hug I can and they might turn up yet.

What an awful thing to happen. I am so sad for you. I hope someone does the decent thing and hands them in. Even if they are someone who won''t return to the hospital, it doesn''t mean they can just keep such a valuable ''find''.

Its ok to feel so upset. I know I would feel the same if I lost something so important to me. (((hugs)))

I''m so sorry too. I think it''s really *DISGUSTING* that whoever finds your wedding sets thinks they''re entitled to keep them, knowing full well that these rings must have total sentimental value to their owner.

Anyway, I''ll send you lots of PS dust and will pray for you and hope you''ll get them back soon.

I hope somebody finds your rings and turns them in.

I''m so sorry this has has happened. I hope they''re found and returned to you.

Basil, I''m sorry... I hope they get returned to you. Lots of hugs to you...

Ditto to everything that''s been said. I really hope they return back home!

Basil!

Oh my gosh. I do the EXACT same thing everyday. I tie them to the cord of my scrubs, because I think it is super safe! Please don''t beat yourself up over this too much. Is it possible that they went into the laundry? It might take a few days for the laundry service to find them. At my hospital, when you go downstairs, there is a specific lost and found for all of the things which have come down with the scrubs. Keep is updated!

Just wanted to offer my sympathy, Basil. I hope they turn up, and if not you find a way to replace them that is meaningful to you.

basil - so sorry that this happened to you. Thank goodness you''ve got the one ring. Hopefully whoever picked up your wedding set is getting a lecture from his/her conscience right now. Are there any engravings inside your rings? Maybe you can retrace your steps and leave a photo at each building''s lost and found.

I think someone should start a website for lost and founds. That way someone who picked up your rings and went home to Alaska can post that it was found. I hate to say it, but check ebay and craigslist regularly and maybe it''ll turn up. I think it''s a good idea that you posted a message on craigslist.

I really hope the rings are returned to you basil!

Basil,

Have you checked with the police department? If I found rings in a public place (I''m thinking on a street, not at the hospital) then I would turn them in to the police department. Hopefully, someone already did that.

I wonder how the one ring got separated from your engagement and wedding rings? You would think if they fell off, they would all fall off at the same time?

I hope you get them back. Hoping you are pleasantly surprised by the kindness of a stranger very, very soon!

They aren''t insured. I know it''s stupid, but I honestly thought I would never lose them. I just didn''t think it was possible. I mean, they were always on my finger. I was so obsessed with them. I didn''t ever leave them in my apartment because I was worried someone would break in and steal them. I didn''t leave them in my locker or my purse cause I figured that on my person was safer. I thought it all through many times about how to be least likely to lose it, and it''s exactly what I managed to do anyway. I never even had a close call before this.

I sent out a hospital wide email and put up a bunch of posters offering a reward ($1000). I don''t know how much they could fetch if sold though.

I''m thinking of buying the same setting and getting it set with a cz, then replacing it when we''re comfortable with it.

I just feel so so stupid. It was like the perfect storm of ring losing - rushing so I didn''t put the ring back on, different scrubs than I''m used to, fell off in a heavily traveled public place. I''m pretty sure it must have been picked up by a patient/visitor who won''t necessarily return to see my reward signs or to get the email.
did you call the local police station to see if anything was turned in?

Two things that the scientific world needs to provide for PSers.

1) Safe and easy finger lipo

2) Teeny tiny GPS locators that can be inserted in our ring bands

I''m so sorry you lost your rings. After checking with the police station, I would also plan on visiting several local pawn shops to see if anyone has sold them for $. I really, really hope they are just still lost and someone will find them and turn the in.

Basil, I''m soo sorry you lost your rings! I hope you get back soon!!

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry! I am like you - I never lose things, and when I rarely do, it eats me up inside. I honestly don''t know what to tell you ... I don''t think anything will help you get over it but time. Did you talk to DH about it? I''m thinking he might make you feel better about it. I hope they turn up! I hope at least one of the pair turns up.

How terrible! I''m praying that since your grandmother''s ring showed up- someone will do the right thing and return your wedding band and ering when they find it.

Oh Basil, I''m so sorry, I hope they''ve turned up! Don''t beat yourself up, I''ve taken my ring off for much sillier reasons and missplaced them (but do find them), --so I can only imagine what it''s like when you''re in your field! Ugh, I just hope someone returns it..don''t give up hope.

I don''t want to make things worse, but to everyone else, insure your rings!!!!

Basil, I feel your pain. Sending you lots of dust your way. Hopefully someone will return them to you.

I''m so sorry. I can''t imagine how miserable you must be feeling.

Take pictures to the police.
If I found a wedding set I would NOT leave it with the store or hospital or wherever. Since I don''t know the people who work there or their policy on lost stuff or how they store it, I would only turn the rings over to the police. I would make sure the hospital (store/whatever) manager level person knew what had been found and where they had been taken.

Check with the pawn shops.
Take them pictures and talk to the people. Let them know what happened and that you would be willing to give THEM the reward if they returned the rings to you.
I had to call pawn shops looking for a ring once (long story) and found that many of them were not at all helpful on the phone. In person was fine though.

OMG Basil, I am so sorry

Truly my worst nightmare! I am terribly forgetful and I lose EVERYTHING, but I still have every ring that FI has ever given me (four of them!), and I am terrified to lose any of them.

I really hope that you get them back, how devestating!

HUGS!
