I am in the process of getting separated and I am looking to sell my engagement ring.
Its a BGD H&A 1.71 D SI1 certified by AGSL

Its been over two years, so buyback is not an option.

Any suggestions on the best way to sell it and what I should expect? I beleive my husband paid ~$24,000 for the diamond end of 2013 and $2000 for the Vatche Royal X-prong solitaire setting.

Your best bet is to try to sell it by listing on Loupetroop.com, then come here, look under the Forum tab, Pricescope Cafe, and then Pre-loved Jewels, and post pictures and a link to your listing there. With top quality stones, people can often get 70-80% of current value specially when the specs are popular. Not many here pay for D color, so you may end up not getting offers that are as high as you want due to the fact they can buy a comparable G-H from a vendor with full policies for less money. Diamond prices in general are a little lower than they were in 2013. Settings will not add much to the price unless they are special such as handforged or very popular.

I can't find an exact comp, but here is one AGS ideal cut stone and a H&A stone from Victor Canera:

You can use a third party such as a PS known appraiser to hold the diamond once you have a buyer, they can verify the condition and specs of the stone to the buyer, and send the stone once you have received payment (buyer pays for appraisal and shipping to them). Or they can do escrow which has a fee. I know for sure that Neil Beaty will do it and recommend him.

After that, consignment is a good option, but you will also lose 10-15% on consignment fees, which is why I recommend that you try to sell yourself first.

I am sorry to hear of your circumstances and hope all works out well for you!
