I'm considering the Stuller solstice setting for my half carat stone. I'm trying to get as close as I can to the Tiffany 6 prong but without the knife edge and with a thinner shank closer to 2mm, and with a budget of $300-600.
I was given a recommendation for a bench jeweler nearby who I've been in contact with but she basically wants me to find the settings on the Stuller website and send them to her, she doesn't seem interested in helping me sort through all the options. I'm totally overwhelmed.
She said we can solder the head I want into the shank I want, or we can order a complete setting.

Help me.

I've spent more hours on Stuller looking for Tiffany style rings that I care to admit. It's a popular style but none of the Stuller settings are actually that close at all.

Since the jeweler you are working with wants you to do your own leg work, ask them what other companies they are able to order from. And expand your search to those.

Alternately, and this is what I recommend, talk to your future fiance and explain that a six prong setting on a 1/2 carat ring will be overwhelming, especially in a Tiffany style, because the Tiffany shank is actually quite sturdy and not delicate.

I would suggest you look at some of the lovely 4 prong options on Stuller for that size diamond. The diamond diameter should be about 5.2mm.

These are my two personal favorites as they come out lovely and show off the diamond while still being durable.

Both have reinforced baskets and 1.9-2mm shank widths for durability. Both are available in 14kt gold and should be budget friendly.

Ok, yeah I'm pretty overwhelmed with the options at Stuller and not very excited about any of them since it's so hard to figure anything out on my own.

I'm firm on wanting the 6 prong Tiffany style, I really don't like 4 prongs, but I agree with you that the thicker shank is bad for my half carat stone and I want no thicker than 2mm.

I have a local jeweler getting some styles from her setting book for me to look at in person, and she also has a Tiffany replica that she makes that I need to look at again.

I also found a setting I really like from Eternity by Yoni today. The 6-prong knife edge. It looks a lot like the Tiffany but it's 2mm. I asked him to send me some pictures of that one with a half carat since I was only able to find one picture on here of that setting and it was a larger diamond so I think it made the head look more short and stout than I'd like. The Yoni setting would be slightly over budget but I think I can convince boyfriend or I'll just throw in the extra. We're basically trying to split the cost of the ring, and I've spent $575 so far on the diamond and other incidentals involved in this search, so we were aiming for $600 for the setting. Not sure if it'll be possible for what I want.
