What do you guys think of this stone? Even if its a grade or two lower in clarity and color on AGS or GIA scale, still seems reasonable, no?

EGL Int - run!

Loose on colour and clarity grading, measurements are rounded to nearest 1% which makes them at best misleadingly imprecise if trying to determine details on nuances of performance.

thanks Yssie!

Thoughts?

HI:

Are you seeking a stone with very strong fluoro?

cheers--Sharon

It is a pretty deep stone with a depth of 62.9%. It also only scores a 4.6 (good performance) on the HCA calculator, so I would be concerned about performance of this stone. If you aren't familiar with the HCA, here is the link. It is a good tool to weed through diamonds (looking for under 2). https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca.

I am guessing you are looking at Zoara to avoid sales tax? I don't believe they will provide you testing of diamonds (idealscope images, etc.), most likely only a picture (if that). With the investment you are going to make in a diamond, I would highly recommend either seeing diamonds in person or going with a vendor that can supply you more information than just the GIA cert and a picture. You can't tell the performance (sparkle, fire) of a diamond by a cert...

I should mention that I have purchased diamond studs from zoara (loose diamonds). They turned out good for earrings but one diamond doesn't perform quite as well as the other. If that was my engagement ring, I would have been bummed.

I wouldn't consider virtual stones without pictures or an idealscope image. That one would not meet my cut requirements, but I'd be wary of very strong blue fluorescence. That's why the stone is priced so low.

EGL Europe or Asia which that certificate is will generally be around 2 grades out on clarity and around 2 to 3 and anywhere up to 5 or 6 grades out on colour. And NO I am NOT kidding. EGL USA is more reliable usually 1 to 2 grades out and GIA generally speaking get it correct more often, that is why GIA stones cost more money.
