My budget is $25.0 or less and I like G or higher. Is there any chance I'll find what I'm looking for? Thanks in advance!!!

you'll want to hit the report concern button to have this moved to the rocky talk section. Is your budget $25k?

Ok thanks I did that! Yes that's my max budget

Thanks! If you see any more send them my way!

What about the specs on this one. http://www.robswork.hostoi.com/Rings/Ring5.html
Asking $18,000 but negotiable. Do you think this is too high an asking price?

Few things to keep in mind when buying a diamond:
1. EGL is normally not the recommended lab. Their grading is usually looser by 1-2 color and clarity grades (possibly more). Stick to GIA or AGS.
2. Unless the stone is a AGS000, plug the stone's numbers into the HCA calculator and eliminate stones that score > 2.0. Your stone scores a 1.8 which is good, but I don't even think the HCA is meant for diamonds that are graded only "Good" for symmetry. To be honest, I don't like how big the table is on your diamond but everyone has their preferences. I'm also very wary of the symmetry grade.
3. You should ask for an Idealscope before you purchase to assess light performance. If you can't assess the Idealscope after you receive it, post it to Pricescope and ask people here for their opinions. You also want pictures (as many as possible) and a video (if possible). The jeweler also needs to verify that it is eye clean.
4. Buy from a jeweler with a good return policy. Not all offer free shipping both ways.

If it were me, I would not choose this diamond. $18K seems like an awful lot, I'd rather go down in color.

Thanks so much for the valuable advice!

This looks promising! Would you be able to see the inclusion to the naked eye with SI1?

Ask Whiteflash if it is eye clean. If it's important to you that it is eye clean from the sides too, you should also add that to your request. I'm pretty sure that it will be a spectacular diamond though.

This particular stone has their "eye clean" button which means it is eye clean, but I would also double check. And if the inclusions are visible ask them if they can be hidden by a prong. The nice thing about this stone is the inclusions seem to be close to the edge and off to one side so it's possible. But, I wouldn't second guess whiteflash.

The table is a bit big for my taste....Do they have pictures? I wouldn't feel comfortable spending that kind of money on ebay especially since there aren't any pictures...do they at least have an ideal scope image? are you not interested in the one from whiteflash? Did you want something bigger?

Edit to say the one I posted is noticeably bigger than the one from ebay and about 3k less.....And at least the stone from whiteflash you know you're going to get a top performing stone...

I haven't looked into the eBay stone any further and I agree it's weird to purchase a stone sight unseen! Yes I did see the Whiteflash stone you sent. The carat size is perfect but I'm a bit color sensitive and I feel like the a bigger stone will show more yellow in an H. Also can you see inclusions in an SI1 to the naked eye? I might have to increase my budget!

I would ask whiteflash about your concerns. An H is still colorless and getting an H SI1 is a great value IMO. If you click on the pictures to blow them up:

You can see the inclusions, but you have to remember, these pictures are way bigger compared to what the actual size is. This stone as I mentioned before also has their "eye clean" stamp which means it's eye clean. I would call them, put this on hold and ask them about the clarity and color. An H in platinum will look gorgeous! So I really wouldn't worry about that or the "clarity" in this stone.

EDIT: to add that there IS a video of the actual diamond in the link. It shows how white the stone looks and how well the inclusions are placed. They're also white inclusions, so that's a plus. The video is also zoomed in so I'd keep that in mind while watching. You absolutely have nothing to loose with this stone.

Hi,

I believe G. H I. J. are in the "near colorless" category.

I just want to say that is a beautiful stone. I'm looking in the same price range but for a 2c and ~25k budget. Definately a stunner!

Fluorescence is wonderful, in my opinion, and will have no negative effects with medium blue.

However, I would not consider buying a diamond on ebay from a seller with 1 feedback. You lose out on trade-in policies and you have high risk buying from an unknown person rather than an established jeweler with a good reputation. The exception is when members here sell diamonds and there are people here who can vouch for their honesty. There are two stones that are around 2.3 cts in J VS that are for sale now. Ideal cuts face up white in I-J color, but I respect your desire to stay at G-H.

I'd stick with WhiteFlash and Good Old Gold, personally.

I know that would be a major risk! It just seemed like the deal of the century. It looks like he's received 3 offers he turned down on the diamond but that still doesn't mean he's legitimate.
Thanks for your feedback :)

not sure how much it would add to your cost and if the seller would consider - how about dealing through an appraiser you trust?

That's an idea! I did recently find a reputable appraiser so I'll have to speak to him before I decide to go this route.
Thanks.
