hi guys,

I apologize in advance, I know this topic has been discussed in the past but the posts I have seen turned into pissing matches.

I am trying to buy a diamond for an engagement ring and the number one thing I want is light performance (you can call it cut quality). so my question is, is the ACA from whiteflash really as amazing as it seems when compared to signature ideal cuts from blue nile and similar diamonds from other vendors? I know they have the numbers and images to back it up but I believe you can request images from other vendors.

I would really love opinions of people who have bought an ACA and similar diamond. but all opinions are appreciated. thx!

I have bought multiple ACA's and think they are in the strictest top tier of H&A diamond cut along with Good Old Gold's and Crafted by Infinity. I very seriously doubt BN and JA are as strict in their cut requirements for H&A based on statements made by vendors and cutters on other threads. If you are after the best, stick with the ACA over BN. I do not feel that BN provides sufficient images on their Signature stones, either. If you are after ideal light performance without H&A precision cutting, then you can just look for AGS ideal cut stones. You could go down to Whiteflash Expert Selection, for example, and get a near H&A ideal cut stone.

Both will be beautiful diamonds without a doubt. Do you have any particular stones in mind or are you just asking in general? I ask because they are both going to be cut beautifully with great light performance so you need to weigh the other characteristics (color, clarity, carat, cost). Both the ACA and blue nile signature ideal provide details that show how well they perform from a light performance standpoint. You can't go wrong either way and will end up with a better cut diamond than most can say. Wichever one turns out to be the best value for you depending on your priorities is the one you should buy. Don't overthink it, it will be gorgeous.

thx for your thoughts!

you make a great point diamondseeker, I don't care if I have H&A as my gf will not be able to see them. and as far as I know H&A does not affect light performance so I will also look at expert cuts with great light performance.

and Pfunk, I actually have a deposit on a stone at a local store (it seems to be a great stone, I may be able to do better online though). my guidelines are
]best cut possible, I want it to POP!
G or better for color
SI or better for clarity I need eye clean though\
as for weight I want as big as I can within those guidelines staying within a 4800 budget. im Canadian so that's about 6000 Canadian.

you nailed it on the head Pfunk I think I have been overthinking this for quit some time now and all the stone will be great. I just want it to be the best possible

You can never over think or over analyze.
