These two rings are done. Spess garnet and Mahenge spinel trellis ring, and a tanzanite and Mahenge spinel cluster ring. I hope I get them this week. Come on, USPS!

Calling @2Neezers because I got the tanzanite from her.

Daniel M's speed in completing these projects was incredible. It's barely over two weeks since he sent me the CAD, and a good part of those two weeks was a big holiday.

To be honest, I was looking forward to the spess getting set more so than the tanzanite, since this was one of Dana's last Namibian spess garnets from old stock material. However, after seeing Dan's pictures, I'm looking forward to the tanzanite cluster ring more. Based on what they looked like in the gem jars, I didn't think the colors on the tanzanite and the spinels would look so intense. But it's true, what PSers say about stones darkening when they're set compared to what they look like loose. In this case, I'm happy with the difference!

I just adore how that tanzanite ring turned out, what a gorgeous color combo! :kiss2:

Just received some photos last night from Yvonne at CRD of my hauyne + emerald earring dangles! I purchased the emeralds during her most recent sale and have been waiting anxiously to get em on my ears. The jump rings should be big enough to hang on stud posts as well as thin hoops.

These should be shipped today :)

Dangles 1.jpg

What a gorgeous color combo! Hauyne’s are like nothing else when it comes to that bright pop of blue and they look awesome next to those gorgeous emeralds. I can’t wait to see more pics of these.

I am going to have my Asscher Cut Natural Blue Topaz from Doug Menadue remade, as I am not in love with its current setting, and seldom wear it as a result.

It is a big and deep stone, and the ring's current side view is too plain and uninteresting to me.

My inspiration is to add a row of small diamonds in the central 3 sections of the gallery, and for the biggest section in the middle to have a small round diamond in the middle, see crude drawing attached which is the brief I have sent to the bend.

DK's DM Asscher NB Topaz Remake.png

Scrolls would not work for this ring for me due to the cut of the stone.

Fingers crossed that the bench can do something with this ring for me.

DK :))

Good find, Musia! I just asked for a video! If I do proceed with the order I will let you know. The ones you posted look like they may fit the bill. I bought one recently that was a smidgen more yellow than I wanted and these look like they may work better.
Thank you

Some people did complain that Michael (hope I remember his name correctly) may be slow with responding. But 99.99% of PSers like him and buy a lot. And he is a dear friend of Dana (Mastercut Gems)

@JrJ I think the 1.53 you were considering would look more like this.
IMG_20200716_114455.jpg IMG_20200716_114441.jpg
It's definitely bright, but a red orange color, not the color of the spess that I already set.

The first two I purchased are like that one of yours. I loved the so much I kept them and figured I would find a use for them later. Then I purchased the one I will post first in the photos, but it is too yellow. I have had my eye on one but am hesitant. I will post the rest of the photos of the one I have been considering and maybe you can tell me if you think it looks like it would be close to your stone that I am absolutely lusting after, please? I think it looks similar but I get fooled by lighting and photos easily.
It is the middle stone in both photos.

I received a reply. The stones look more like the one in my top photo above, more yellow. They are beautiful, just not the shade I am looking for.
These colored stones are trickier to choose from than diamonds, in my opinion.

@JrJ Please let me bother you one more time. Here is something not round, the price is good and the shipping is included in the price https://www.etsy.com/listing/813682599/111ct-custom-cut-spessartite-garnet?ref=user_profile&frs=1. The seller is a reputable one. Here is a round stone called Imperial Malaya garnet, but the color is orange https://www.etsy.com/listing/738989...imperial-malaya-garnet?ref=user_profile&frs=1. And here is something extremely expensive, orange and not round called Loliondo Neon Mandarin garnet https://www.etsy.com/listing/623220870/neon-mandarin-garnet-mandarin-garnet?ref=user_profile&frs=1 Maybe you could widen your search by adding words like Imperial Malaya and Loliondo Neon if you are looking for any garnet in that particular orange color. Wishing you luck!

I think the color of my spess is the shade between the left and the middle stones in the last pictures. In fact, is say that the color is slightly more like the one on the left, but maybe mine is more vivid and transparent. Close up here. IMG_20200716_165146.jpg
Imo it's not quite as red or intense as the middle one that you're considering. But who knows! It's hard to tell if there's any image processing. I took my photos with a Google Pixel phone and did not adjust any settings to alter the photo.

How do you like the silver spinels? Do you have any pieces set with those? I'm curious to know what you think of them. Do they ever look darker? How's the sparkle?

Here's some close ups now that I have the ring in hand. The mint tourmaline is somehow showing up with a more vivid color than what I see with my eyes.

IMG_20200716_204814.jpg IMG_20200716_204713.jpg IMG_20200716_204612.jpg
IMG_20200716_204713.jpg IMG_20200716_210600.jpg
IMG_20200716_210712.jpg

Silver spinel compared against F VS diamonds in last two photos, light from ceiling fan. The spinels are definitely very sparkle under strong light. They are markedly different from white diamonds in body color, and I think the sparkle of the silver spinels is more comparable to rose cut diamonds than MRB.

Oooh I love how this one turned out! Great choice in pairing the silver spinels with green tourmaline! I have rings that were set in the same halo style from Daniel M. I find I get fuzz and lint caught around prongs often. That's the only issue I have with mine. Let me know how yours wears after a while?

Thanks, I'm actually really looking forward to the big pear aquamarine with these silver spinels and Panjshir emeralds.

How long is a while? I feel like I can't promise anything because I have 60+ rings and rotate them so that it would take quite some time for most of my rings to show wear.

I'm really bad with wearing rings. I almost never wear rings except for like a week when I get a new one! Anyways mine are pretty recent as in I set them during the pandemic and I've noticed the lint thing right away.

My jelly Welo Opals arrived today, and they are cute!
Got them from Opal Auctions, still one more from a different seller to arrive.
These are my learning stones, to see if I like them, before I plunge for a bigger and more expensive one.
And I definitely like them!

My dangles arrived today! Love how glowy both the hauyne and emerald are :kiss2:

I tried them on with a .80ct diamond stud in a 4-prong basket setting and a .44ct diamond stud in a bezel setting. I think I like it better with the smaller bezel stud, because (1) the bezel echoes the setting for the hauyne, and (2) I want the emerald to stand out more. What do you guys think? P.S. decent earshots are sooo hard

My new spinel sunflower ring arrived today! The sparkles are just amazing :)

Your ring is so pretty @leslie1956 . This is the first Yvonne piece I can remember seeing here with moonstone melee. Are the faceted moonstone melee sparkly, or do they show the moonstone sheen, or both? I love it and am adding a ring with moonstone melee to my wishlist!

Thanks, 2Neezers! The faceted moonstones do sparkle. I first noticed this in a pair of moonstone dangle earrings I got from Yvonne. I asked her about it and she said that yes, they do sparkle when faceted. I believe that she has 2 mm, 3 mm and 4 mm sizes available in her shop right now. I love wearing this ring with my moonstone cab ring from Daniel M :) I'm also thinking about having her make moonstone and lavender spinel earrings, too.

I'd go ahead and get a moonstone ring from Yvonne, if you want one, just remember that they are soft so put them in protected settings :)

I am expecting a ring from Enhoerning Jewelry today, and a ring from Daniel M next week. Here are Dan's photos of my aquamarine ring with an emerald and gray spinel halo.

I had a good experience with buying a lab ruby from PrecisionCutGems (UK based) on Etsy before, so I asked him to cut some lab blue spinel for me. I wanted a pair of rounds for earrings and a larger one for a matching pendant. We decided on the Ruination pattern and he cut a 8mm and two 6mm.

I'm getting a bit more experienced with making jewellery now - have made 2 bezel pendants that involved soldering (bit nerve wracking watching metal glow red!). So I think I'll have a go at making the earrings and pendant myself.

DSCF0003.jpg

He has a square lab blue spinel in his Etsy shop if anyone is interested. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/828941940/blue-spinel-maltese-cross-precision-cut

I'm really liking the grey spinel halo on this ring and the tourmaline ring you just finished with Dan! So pretty with the blue and green gems in these rings. It would probably look fantastic with a red or bright pink stone, too.
