I've been on a gem-buying frenzy this summer, and I ended up buying 2 pairs of emerald-cut neon Burmese spinels with very similar dimensions from the lovely @Desertrose.

The pair on the left is more of a hot pink, and the pair on the right are more slightly pinkish red.

I bought the red pair first, originally planning to make a bypass ring out of them. But then I bought the pink pair a few weeks later and kind of want to keep them all together... kind of like an ombre pink/red spinel set

Have been trying to think of how to set them and like the idea of an offset vertical stack with a diamond halo RHR or a horizontal bar-set ring or pendant.

I have so many other stones I still want to set, including a trio of Paraibas from desertrose, but I keep reaching for these when I look at my collection. Figured I should set it first so I can wear it outside ;-)

Will eventually jump onto the bypass ring bandwagon with this Paraiba and spess IMG_20200923_150354.jpg IMG_20200923_154537.jpg

Yessssss I love it. I am waiting for Daniel M to start on my bypass ring. He has the paraiba from Desertrose and my spinel finally made it to the post office for collection yesterday so hopefully it will begin soon. Looking forward to seeing more bypass rings I love the finger coverage they give.

I recently sent a lavender spinel to Holly at Holly Hague Design to be set in one of her designs, her peacock design using purple ombre enamel. I just received word that it’s finished and can’t wait to see it in person!

This is stunning. I love the idea of continuing the colour with the enamel I have never seen this before. Gorgeous

I hear you I am a huge spinel convert. Love these I have seen some sellers offering ombre sets as well in small sizes I think about making bar pendant of them I will do that one day.

As for me I am just waiting to see my final ring from Ivy and Rose. The CAD was approved on Aug 25 so I am hoping not too much longer to wait. I did see the below pop up in their new items and think mine will be fairly similar but in all white gold and with a jedi spinel.

I’ve spent a lot of time during Covid converting savings into gemstones and now realise I have 20 potential projects to work through! I need to stop buying stones and start setting them.

My next two projects are a sleepy Mahenge spinel ring in a lotus setting with bixbite melee around the outside. Then to set my little Unheated Ceylon “pads” into cluster earrings and a ring.

I still need ides for the pad ring setting. It’s an elongated cushion and I want to balance out the width. I thought maybe a graduated halo?

Apart from setting some of the existing CSs I already have, I am shelving CS purchases and divert the funds to indulge in some lab/MMD projects instead.

A 7-8mm medium blue Sapphire in JW's signature Asscher cut that I have in mind could fund a few small lab/MMD projects!

I actually am loving so many of the lab coloured stones I am seeing @dk168.

I think I will need to stop for the year after the bypass and ivy and rose ring are done. I have seriously over spent this year. @Ionysis I have been doing a little bit of gem hoarding myself. Didn't give much though for how I would pay to set them

Love the basket underneath that lets some light in
I looooooove this. I'd seen a few bypass rings lately and was thinking about how I would love to set one with a paraiba. Your CAD is pretty much exactly what I had in mind :) I can't wait to see the finished ring!!

I'm having a three-stone ring made out of these emerald shaped emeralds. The ring will be in rose gold & I'm designing it as we speak. Each emerald is quite small but it will make a luscious bar of color all together once set!

The diamonds in the above photo were made into the sweetest bezel set asymmetrical studs ♥

icm_fullxfull.282761105_i7tixywsra8gg4w4o44c~2.jpg

I also purchased the loveliest 5mm round emerald in the last week & plan to create a very antique/Victorian or even Georgian inspired ring with it and a halo of neon pink/red spinels in yellow gold ♥

The emerald is IMPOSSIBLE to photograph but I was able capture just a peek of the color in this video. It has wonderful clarity and the color is just so saturated in person. It reminds me of a colored mirror.

The 2mm spinels I will use to halo my round Emmy ♥

Antique Inspo for the emerald & spinel halo ring ♥

I didn't search for pearl halos but for whatever reason they were all almost predominantly in each setting that I loved!
I LOVE those dainty studs and that emerald, ohlala

Subtle difference, but a difference nonetheless and I am quite happy about it cuz the halo setting was an eBay steal. 18k gold preloved setting. I replaced the sapphire centre with one that is better saturated with less of a window. Size 4. Before and after pics. The before pics were from the vendor IMG_20200907_140546.jpg IMG_20200907_140607.jpg
Love how your ring looks now. You did a right thing!

Thanks! At various times... but just never got around to setting them. Some of the stones do look a lot nicer in person than in my pics so definitely want to set them

Thanos blingggggggg ♥
Hahahah. You know me well! But seriously not Thanos level size to me since you know, man hands and all.

@Ionysis I vote yellow gold. That pink looks a bit harsh to me with white gold, and yellow gold would slightly soften the color and enhance the demantoids. I would go with a design similar to the Araya from Cecile Raley Designs. This looks like a fun project!
