GemQueen, I honestly LOVE the other setting and honestly do not like the more contemporary one nearly as much! Since you asked, I had to tell you, because I love your stone in the other setting more! I like the more antique style of the other setting. What I do not like about the one you just pictured are the curved bands. The halo setting is fine, but I'd wear one straight band below it. But I still think the antique style setting is more interesting and prettier.

I believe it has something to do with how much prong sits up against the diamond. If you google the topic there are some other threads discussing this. I had to look it up also!
