@kipari I’m sorry about your sister..That makes me so mad. There was no need for her to take her mask off..I did read that steroids do wonders for myocarditis. I hope they clear it up.

Thank you mamabear ❤️

@Cerulean He broke his Fibula..He was able to put weight on it at six weeks. In fact the doctor said weight bearing after he was cleared would help with the healing. He said he wore his boot to protect his leg if it was uneven ground for a while. He was cleared to run at three months..but he was doing marathons at that point. He just was pretty careful with it…He did just normal activities walking on flat surfaces at six weeks..and gradually built up.

Ouch! That’s a bad break! Im curious to see what the doctor says to me. Thanks so much for sharing his experience! It makes me feel better - when I googled healing time I read 4-6 months :(sad:shock:

I think I wrote it wrong…He wasn’t running marathons at three months. He was running marathons before the break..so he was really fit. I don’t know if the muscles in his leg kept the bone stable..He never asked the doctor. He definitely was walking at six weeks though…I think it depends on where the break is. I hope yours heals quickly..

I'm feeling blue today.

Self loathing is setting in because it is after 2pm and I haven't done anything productive except vacuum and some minor house tidying up.

I have soooooo much real work to do and I just don't feel motivated. I want to crawl into bed and watch Netflix.

I have a health issue that hurts and it saps my energy. I could work through it if I were stronger willed or felt passion for what I'm working on.

Feeling super tired, drained and underwater from the work piling up. I feel like garbage.

I just need to put my big girl pants on and get into my studio and get sh@t done.

Here I go...closing my laptop now...wish me luck...

(All I want to do is buy sparklies, look for sparklies, talk about sparklies, etc.)

I actually managed to have a decently productive late afternoon work session!

Having a PS family rooting for you, and putting on bling that makes you happy is the best medicine!

Good thing about being a volunteer is that, I can withdraw my time and support when the fun stops.

This is what I shall do - to stop going to meetings, and just be a helper as and when required.

I do not wish to sit through disorganised meetings with distracting side discussions, or to listen to someone planning what they can do or can't do around their childcare arrangements in details, having to discuss logistical arrangements less than 3 days before the start of a week-long list of events; etc. etc...

I have volunteered for 2 other groups who appear to be a bit more structured and organised, which will suit me better.

DK :))

I also think that productivity ebbs and flows, and we should be forgiving and kind to ourselves on days when we just need a break.

I struggle with this particular brand of kindness, too. Glad you are feeling a bit better.

In New England, USA, there is a new museum that specializes contemporary, realism painting (paintings that are painted by living artists who paint in a representational, non-abstract style.). This is great news for my field.

Today on Instagram, I made a negative comment that will probably affect my career.

A group of artists affiliated with the museum (their work was bought by the museum and hangs in its permanent collection) painted a group self portrait of themselves to give to the museum's owner. That's a really nice gesture. The painting is lovely and beautifully done.

However, the painting is of ALL white and mostly male artists.

When the image was published online, and getting tons and tons of praise (basically that the seven are all gods and fabulous and how selfless to donate a self portrait to the museum, they fart gold, etc) I made the following public comment:

"The painting is beautifully painted. But it is a sea of white faces, mostly male. Surely there are other "worthy" painters that could have been included?"

Let the hate storm towards me begin.

I could name twenty amazing painters who are women, or of color, or women of color, that could have, should have been included. But I know I will get SH*T for my comment.

You absolutely did the right thing. I know so many female, queer and POC artists that are frequently overlooked in favor of their white male counterparts. It’s contemptuous at this point, especially because so many people in the art community pat themselves on the back for how lofty their moral ideals are and for how incredibly progressive they are. It’s just enraging, and so many people say the right thing but don’t do the right thing. Actions speak louder than words. Sleep well knowing that you used your social power to say what other people feel too terrified to say. Hats off to you, seriously.

@RunningwithScissors , Let the hate storm begin. I’m so proud of you! You were only stating the truth. At some point you would think the optics are jarring enough for people to notice without it having to be pointed out. Everyone looking at the painting should be able to see this.

What do I know. I live in a country that feels a bunch of old white men have the right to make decisions regarding women’s reproductive rights.

I’m so depressed, the only thing getting me through was thinking and obsessing about this antique ring that sold a few days before they answered my husband’s dm. We had been trying to contact them via email and website for over 3 months. Now I have to deal with reality of getting iron transfusion dealing with my lupus and have to get my implants removed because they’ve been recalled for causing cancer and I have all the symptoms so back in April I had to get biopsied, CT’s can all that ( no Lymphoma, yay!) but they only way to tell if I have or could have breast cancer caused by this is removing and testing all the material and they need to remove my lymph node, implants and all the tissue touching the implant and the muscle so basically it’s a mastectomy. I’m really depressed and scared. They said it’s not an easy surgery and it’s not gonna be pretty. It will be hard mentally they told me and I have to wait six months before they can do a fat transfer or any reconstruction. I need to order prosthetics so no one knows. But the only thing getting me through was the ring and I now I have no hope nothing to think about to bring me happiness. I lost my job in March 2020 and i’m auto immune compromised so I haven’t seen any one really. I’m sliding into a dark hole. Im really upset and wanted a bit of happiness and a win. I really thought this ring was meant for me and it gave me something to look forward to. I don’t understand why it didn’t work out. I feel like I keep just losing

I’m sorry @Smith3 …Please let us know when you go in for surgery so we can send you dust, pray, or both.
Do you have a photo of the ring? There are very savvy girls on here that may be able to find you something that looks similar to the ring. I’m not as good..but I will also help you look.
Hang in there…Big hugs..

Thank you so much, I have pictures under “I want this ring” in the antique section. Do you have been very kind and trying to help me find another ring but I really want that Tiffany one and I’m hoping it pops up again.

Roof guy couldn't find anything wrong with the roof but all he did was inspect the tiles. I'm going to have him back to remove some of the tiles and check the underlayment. Hard for me to believe we don't have an issue due to so many leaks.

I found rotten wood and siding all over the house. My contractor, who I adore, is using downtime on his big projects to squeeze in time for my repairs. Since the exterior repairs are so extensive I decided to repaint this year rather than next year because he'll have his painter make time now.

The whiney is the cost of the painting due to paint shortages. The paint stores aren't giving out liquid samples try on the house due to the shortage. They didn't have the big peel and stick samples with my color and it will take too long for them to get here -- painting will probably start next week -- so they gave me 8 of the tiny ones to tape together. The painter told me he probably won't be able to get the high grade exterior paint I want and I'll have to settle for good rather than great paint. He's said he's paying 7% more for paint than 6 months ago -- over $85 a gallon. Cost to paint the exterior of my house is $9000 :oops2:

More ka-ching. Due to the break in at my neighbors 2 weeks ago -- an addict shattered her slider doors with one whack from an empty wine bottle and the cops chased him through my yard -- I've been researching ways to provide better protection. I was pondering getting metal shutters or security screens. DH is afraid either of those would make the house look funky. On Tuesday a window replacement guy is coming to give us an estimate on replacing windows with impact-proof glass like that used in hurricane zones. He said it's possible to replace the glass rather than replace windows which will be cheaper. We have 22 windows 3 of which are large picture type. It'll be a lot more expensive to go this route but if DH is willing to spend the money, I'm not going to argue. It is disappointing that we have to keep increasing security measures every year to compensate for rising crime in our area.

My neighbor hasn't been able to sleep since the break in. She's traumatized. The guy is already out on bail awaiting a trial date. I keep a baseball bat beside the bed. Our security cameras are great for showing us whose trying to get it, but even with the alarm, they haven't deterred people from getting in. Ugh.

I'm sorry Matata!
I hope I do not break rules by replying, but I am adding high end high anti infraction film to one of my windows. Offer was very economical compared to changing window or glass. It's also not blocking out more light than the true triple glass anti infraction stuff I looked into would.

I did it because my friend protected his office this way and burglars tried a sewer lid which didn't work!!!

(ETA it's a specialised firm and they'll do it... I can't even imagine me putting film on my window ... wouldn't be aesthetically pleasing)

Thanks @kipari. I looked at the pros and cons of window film vs impact resistant glass. I ruled out the film because even the high end film can be scratched and because I have pets, it isn't the best option for us.

Someone bought the lots in front of FIL's house, and are installing several trailers.
Now, after 30 years, the view from the deck is ruined.

Before:

And now, with more buildings on the way.... :(

I’d be in tears @stracci2000. I looked at the picture and immediately thought they ruined his view. Then I saw your comment.

And they cut down the old dead tree.
The tree was a favorite resting spot for hawks and ravens. My in-laws sat on that deck for hours every day, watching deer and other wildlife. MIL passed away in July. She would have been heartbroken.
And of course they put that yellow trailer right up against the property line.

Oh @stracci2000. It would have broken your MIL’s heart. It broke mine and I only saw the picture. A beautiful view can brighten your day. I feel bad for your FIL.

I so badly want to reply to my aunt that she feels like a "complete burden, pig, low life" because she IS. I mean, she is about to turn 49 years old and is living in her parents' attic with her teenaged kids rent free and is actually getting $$$ from them. She is supposed to be caregiver but is routinely too tired/hurt/sick to do so or just gone with the guy she is seeing (which means one or other of the kids helps, usually). She doesn't help them make food or do dishes. Her sister lives next door and does as much as she does or more. She is constantly scowling and cranky. She and her sister made a big push over last summer to go through as much from the attic/basement as possible and get rid of lots. (Like a car stuffed with canning supplies (free) to a coworker because it isn't like they use them anymore.)

My grandfather is cranky that things get moved and he feels like they are trying to get rid of all of the stuff he worked for. To make matters worse, as they haul out loads of G&G's stuff, the aunt and her kids move their stuff in (including new stuff they get). Grandma feels pressured to say okay to things being gotten rid of. Just a mess.

Then she and her sister complain that the "elderly people forget what happens" then blame them.

Seriously!?!?! You ignore the man and make it clear that you think his concerns are stupid, refuse to talk about things he is interested in, tell him to quit talking about his worries about things, refuse to ride in a car with him driving (he is a great driver and MUCH better than either of them), roll your eyes at him, stomp around, tell him what he should/shouldn't be doing, and then get mad when he seems a bit upset?

Oh... My horrible sin is that I listen to G&G and hear what they are saying. I get to hear about everything and be told when one gets a huge blister or the other desperately wants a particular recipe printed. I bring little things they can enjoy and the occasional big thing (trip to SD for Grandma, new DSLR for Grandpa) that shows that I hear them and see them as individuals rather than just "elderly" people who are in the way.
