I’m so annoyed.

I was at the dog park and my very excited, 65lb rough collie puppy body slammed into the side of my knee.

I heard a snap, and my knee just crumpled.

Tomorrow is our big 1st wedding anniversary, opera and 5 star restaurant.

I AM SO MAD. May be attending the opera on crutches.

After having to cancel original wedding plans feeling quite bitter that anniversary couldn’t go right…

My very fit youger sister hast been suffering from long Covid since her infection.

Extreme fatigue, can't climb stairs etc.

Yesterday cardiologist confirmed myocarditis .

I'm scared and SO ANGRY. My sister hadn't seen anyone at all indoors since this sh*tshow has started. Worked in home office, pick up groceries.
She thought her problem would be her toddler. She started a new job and had to use daycare. Toddler thankfully never had Covid.
We're pretty sure she got it at a doctor's appointment in the phase where he (old white guy ) had been vaccinated, but she wasn't eligible yet.
Hes an orthopedic surgeon, she had waited months to see him for her knee.

He ordered her to take of her kn 95. Can't understand you, I'm vaccinated, take that off!

She was stunned and obliged. She was furious at herself afterwards. We can't be sure & cannot prove it, but it's the only situation where she ever took off her mask with other people (indoors and outdoors)....

Oh no, I’m so sorry. I understand precisely how livid you must be and how concerned for your sister. Wishing you both the best and a fast recovery for her. <3

I'm so sorry...I hope she is able to make a full recovery.

Which leads me to my next question...does one recover from myocarditis? Is it a matter of time or is it unknown at this point?
Hoping its just a matter of time for her.

Thank you very much for your well wishes, @PreRaphaelite !

Thank you @tyty333 . We're still looking into the treatments and different options.
She needs to rest and take it easy . She needs her daily sports units for her physical well being as well as her mental health, so that is very hard for her. They've started her on corticosteroids AFAIK and she's had blood tests, EKG and an echocardiogram and she'll have an MRI. They'll assess whether she needs further medication and she'll have frequent check ups.

At least she listened to her body and went to have it checked out. A friend's friend had exactly the same scenario (mild -ish Covid, but loooong recovery) and though he just had to get back into shape. He nearly died swimming this summer and has done more damage to the muscle from effort.

My cousin's daughter is in Georgia for school and apparently will have a few days off from school and wants to visit NY. Her grandmother (my aunt) called my mom to ask if she can stay at my house then my mom called me to ask if that's ok. During a global pandemic. With 2 of her friends whom I know nothing about. Stay at my house with 2 young unvaccinated children. I honestly don't remember if I even ever met this girl, I barely knew her mom (my cousin) growing up.

And I actually had to give a long explanation why it was absolutely not possible. Between the young girl, my aunt, and my parents, no one had the sense to think it was a terrible thing to ask someone at a time like this. And the fact that I had to JUSTIFY my reasoning and was made to feel guilty...

They ended up asking another cousin of mine, whose mom (my other aunt) was all, "don't worry, we'll take good care of them. We wear mask and it's safe". I feel like we're living in different worlds right now...

@Cerulean hope your knee is better. @kipari I hope that your sister's health improves soon.

My almost 80 yo cancer survivor parents are hell bent on going to a temple in Long Island for an outdoor function. Then, they plan to visit NYC Chinatown because "they haven't been there in years." I asked them if they thought that was a good idea during a pandemic. They are still going:x2

I got the ‘you are our first pick’ email from the event management agency that contracts me to work big events. For a week in November in Las Vegas, expecting 30k people from around the world. 30,000 people.

I am terrified. Yes I’m vaxxed. Yes this is my chosen field. Yes I’m shocked that the big company is holding the event this year.

I don’t have the contract yet but it will show up imminently. I don’t know what to do.

ps - I don’t have health insurance.

Hi. I’ve been to Vegas several times since they reopened. They have some of the best air filtration systems. Wear a mask. Social distance. You should be fine. I’ve been to several casinos. Several times. So has my elderly mom, DD, husband and siblings. I think you will be fine, especially if you are vaccinated. ETA: I forgot we aren’t supposed to chime in on this thread but I did hoping I could help ease your fears.

Does she go outside? She could have an abscess from a bite. A soak in warm water and Epsom salts can really help, but . . . cats love that, I know. I could grow my own diamonds before I could soak Foster's foot.

So it turns out she sprained her shoulder but she also has arthritis. The vet prescribed Dasaquin and she has been taking it daily, we are seeing excellent results with a lot of improvement.

Funny thing, we had a cat growing up and my mom would give her a bath weekly! My mom was very OCD about cleaning and well, it applied to the cat too

I had hurt my knee last week, and did not get good news from my MRI. I fractured my tibia

Waiting for a specialist to see me tomorrow morning. So bummed. Don’t know what treatment is, but was told to immediately start using crutches

I live in a 3rd floor walk up. I feel grateful my husband is here to help, but feel horrible that he’s now solely responsible for dog walks and other chores.

Ughhhh :knockout:

I’m happy it’s only a sprained shoulder. That was too funny about your mom’s cat!

Thanks so much! I was gone for a bit, needed a mental break, the negativity and hate here was getting to me. I’m just going to ignore it going forward and focus on the good stuff ;-)

That’s awful @Cerulean I hope it heals quickly. My son broke his leg…I can’t remember which bone..It healed very well. He got really good using the crutches..I think he was able to walk on it six weeks later. I’ll ask him later when I talk to him.

@kipari I’m sorry about your sister..That makes me so mad. There was no need for her to take her mask off..I did read that steroids do wonders for myocarditis. I hope they clear it up.

That would be awesome to know about his experience! I’m not the most spry, but I am relatively young so hope that’s in my favor!

@Cerulean He broke his Fibula..He was able to put weight on it at six weeks. In fact the doctor said weight bearing after he was cleared would help with the healing. He said he wore his boot to protect his leg if it was uneven ground for a while. He was cleared to run at three months..but he was doing marathons at that point. He just was pretty careful with it…He did just normal activities walking on flat surfaces at six weeks..and gradually built up.
