when it rains it pours, ....and right now its f*cking flooding....

My husband has his angiogram done and its not good y'all. Full blockage on one side...the side that has the stent, 90% on the other. The valve has to be replaced.

Radiation is the gift that keeps on giving (he had Hodgkin's in his 20's)

Monday we'll have a date for surgery.

Big news to be sure. Works that needs to be done, tho. Hopefully you have a great Heart Surgery center close by. Healing vibes across the miles.

Well there are excellent docs around here one of which is the one who did the angio And he cautioned to get this done within the next month. Monday is the consult day for 3 docs and thats when we'll choose and set up that time. All of them are excellent but they also specialize in different techniques, its a matter of hearing which one he's a good candidate for.

I’m so sorry @Arcadian. Thankfully there are good doctors where you live. I can only imagine how shocked you must have felt getting this news. Sending dust to you and your husband.
 
New formulations of both Ivory bar soap and Dove sensitive skin bar soap aren’t as good.
Bulk purchasing means I’ve missed the change & grabbing old stock by many months :(

HI:

I'm making pesto and bought a huge bag of basil from the farmers market. I was SHOCKED how much as wasted/unusable. At the very least, 1/3 of the bag!

Have my three stone pendant on a .09mm white gold box chain. Ordered it from a seller on Amazon. Fast forward a couple of years and it has a couple of burrs. Kids asked me last Christmas what I wanted and I said gift cards from Amazon to buy another chain. Waited from Christmas until now to see if prices would go down. Course gold at record high so I decided to just buy it. Same seller and got the chain. Has no lobster clasp as stated and thinner than my current one. Contacted Amazon for refund. Was sent a USPS label to return. The label was so small I was afraid to use it. Spent some time tracking down the seller by phone - not an easy task these days. They agreed to email me a new label - hopefully larger. Started looking around online for new one - exponentially more than what I paid. To keep or not? Got an email from the seller saying that they had replaced that supplier a couple of years ago. They said they wanted to send me a new chain and would include another mailing label to return the one I just received. AMAZING! What looked like a real disappointment turned out to be a great customer service experience! Not the type of response you would ever expect so I was very pleasantly surprised. Just had to share!

I'm OK most of the time but definitely have moments of freaking out.

He opted to get the less invasive surgery, which means they'll stent the one side, will leave the other side alone because its rerouted its blood supply, and pop in the valve (they won't remove the old valve, they treat it as a sleeve of sorts. Everything done through the main vein through the leg. Time in the hospital is about 2 days, then recovery time at home a couple of weeks. In general they like to do this for anyone over 65.

Of course if they have issues they'll switch to the more traditional route, and that doc will be on call for it. He didn't want to go that route because its more invasive, too many chances for infection, more recovery time.

Outside of this, his heart is very healthy and being physically active has been instrumental in this. The sad is, when you get blasts of radiation to your chest, this is often the result later on.

I warned my sister who also got blasted with radiation when she had leukemia to keep up on her agio appts.

Yes, fingers crossed for both of you. For the easier procedure to be done and he's home within the 2 days!

@Arcadian, Please keep reminding yourself your husband has good doctors who are skilled at doing this procedure. He also is in good shape and is physically active. These things are in his favor for having a good outcome. If you start stressing out you have a whole group of people here who can try to help you. You have been through a lot lately. It’s only natural you would be having moments where you are feeling overwhelmed. Please be good to yourself. Sending you hugs, Callie

I’m sorry all this is happening. I sort of quoted you yesterday at my lawyer’s office when she said “when it rains, it pours.” I replied, “yes, and I am flooded.”

Your husband’s situation has me wondering about how my heart health will be affected if I have radiation therapy. I will definitely be asking my doctors about this. I hope you both get through this latest round of surgery as smoothly as possible and that you have many more years together. Thinking of you!

Anytime there is a problem with our health or our loved ones health it’s extremely stressful. Please be good to yourself and when you feel overwhelmed you can always come here and talk. You will be supported.

I’m also sorry you have been dealing with this kind of stuff here on this site. I’ve been down a similar road on this site (only one person) and know how bad it feels. Please know not everyone behaves this way or finds it acceptable. Please try to ignore it and don’t let that person keep you from coming here. Please know this site is also filled with really good people. As @monarch64 stated, you can always change your username if that makes you feel more comfortable here.

Thank you and I'm always thinking of you. The unfortunate thing about cancer therapies is that unless you really ask the right person they don't talk about the years down the road because they're focused on how to get you healthy in the short term.

But I'm glad that this has you thinking about it now because its particularly important to know. Cancer is one of those risk to benefit diseases that you always have to think about how to handle not only now but in the future too.

Its OK, heck I try to think of it as a procedure frankly because it helps me to compartmentalize whats happening. if they have to crack his chest open that to me is full on surgery.
