@seaurchin, ha! I need a laugh. I’m not a chicken so if they do subpoena me I will go but it potentially will be at the expense of our friendship. Mostly because I don’t think she is being forthright and I’m starting to question how trustworthy she is. If I can’t trust you we can’t be friends.

And this is why I love animals so much, no ulterior motives, love you no matter what and they don’t care about money!

@YadaYadaYada
I would ask her very directly if you are going to be called to testify.
You need a clear answer.
It might turn into a phone interview with the lawyer, or something painless like that.

You could also hint that if you help her, she should share the compensation with you.......

If you do get subpoenaed @YadaYadaYada, you could always say you don’t really have a clear recollection of what happened. That won’t help her case one iota.

Continuing from my previous rant about my neighbor friend who is suing our city for a slip and fall. She asked me for my house number tonight for “paperwork”. I gave it to her since she can find it out anyways. She just today texted me about how her surgery was 40k (that’s how much the insurance company was billed) and it’s higher than she thought etc. It’s apparent at this point that she is purposefully bringing up the cost, so between that and the house number got me curious.

I found out through our online judicial site that this is a current case, she filed back in March of 2020 and there has been lots of action since then. Now it is going to a jury trial. You think she mentioned anything all last year? Nope! This is making me nervous, I don’t want to be involved and actually I don’t feel I have much to contribute. We were walking and she tripped and fell over a break in the sidewalk, that’s all I remember.

I’m concerned now that I could be forced to be a witness since it is going to trial. I already told her I am not going to court virtual or otherwise. This is all just so shady, she never told me they filed a lawsuit, never mentioned anything else until the insurance bill came for her latest surgery. Ugh!

What a nightmare. You could yell expletives at her and tell her to leave you out of it. Scare her into thinking you would ruin her case... :evil2: Just sayin...

Edit: ok, i know you can’t...but it’s fun to dream

Thought I just had a sensitive stomach. Some online reading brought me up to IBS, which matches exactly. Great, I now get to subsist on clear soups. At least this diet is helping the flareup. Giving up spicy food will be the hardest part.

@chrono For me the hardest part was the fact that no one really knows what causes it, so you basically have to be your own doctor to find exactly what works for you. But the good news is that you will figure it out eventually, and food won't always be the enemy, so you won't be relegated to soup the rest of your life. Hope your tummy feels better soon!

@Gabbycat I was venting hard because I feel trapped at home not knowing when I have to run to the bathroom immediately. It seems every time I go out, my colon decides it's time to let it go. After several of these per day, I'm physically worn out.

@chrono I hear you, I know what you are going through, and I'm sorry. People don't understand how exhausting it is both physically and mentally if they've never been through it. They feel like since it's not as serious as Chron's and won't kill you that it's a minor nuisance. But it's so much more than that. I encourage you to find a GI who listens. There are medications that can help if you're open to them. (Not sure if you prefer to go the natural route, but there are also several different elimination diets out there, too.). In the meantime, just good old Imodium does wonders to keep you from being trapped at home. And I'm glad to listen, too, if you need to vent more to someone who gets it.

Appreciate the support. I've been taking anti-diarrhea medication and it helps somewhat. I don't like the idea of having to take meds like this for weeks but if I don't, I am chained to the toilet bowl. LOL The meds lessen the urgency but it still happens, just less frequently.

I'll see a GI after covid is less serious. My area is a hotbed right now and it's safer for me to not visit any doctor unless I am diagnosed with covid.

That said, today is a GOOD day. I was able to eat solids, colon behaved very well, far less gas, bloating and pain. Please don't have another flare up the rest of 2021! I guess there goes the morning coffee and evening wine.

Hi Yada, Yada Yada,

You are just a witness in this possible jury trial. Most lawyers try to settle the case first. It seems no settlement has been offered that meets the expectations of the client and the lawyer. If she was injured from the fall, she certainly has the right to sue the local Government. You will not be forced to testify. Truthfully, it is not something that would take alot of time and of course you should tell the truth. I do believe that you would have been asked to give a deposition already

A lawsuit is not something you would share with just anyone. Look how some of you are already assuming she's scamming the local Gov. She will have to produce Drs' testimony as to the cause of her injuries. and the back=up documents. Lawyers see how the case goes before they decide on how they proceed.(Investigation continues) This does not make her a bad friend, nor is she asking you to do anything a good citizen would not do. I honestly would be shocked , if I were her, that you would refuse . You were there.

I doubt this will go to trial, but if it does, just tell what happened. If your testimony refutes what she says, they wont call you.

Yada, you are not the jury here. Let them do their job. She is still your friend.(I hope)

I just wanted to chime in that this is a problem I've lived/struggled with for over twenty years (IBS-D and sometimes C)and I'm here to commiserate if you need it. One thing that helped me with gastric dumping after eating was blackseed oil. I started taking it a few years ago. I take it every day. It's not a magical cure, but it definitely made a positive difference in the inflammatory aspects of pain/bloating/regularity.

@ItsMainelyYou Any particular black seed oil? I’ve only see facial oils, not anything for ingestion.

I've been buying Sweet Sunnah or Healths Harmony off of Amazon. I actually prefer the Sweet Sunnah as it seems more potent to me, but I use both interchangeably! It also comes in liquid form- but it tastes absolutely awful:knockout: Gel caps are much easier.
* oh, you will burp what tastes mildly like motor oil at first- that's okay and actually a sign of good stuff.

Im livid
Last night i found beer bottles in the garden thrown over from next door - worse i found a broken bottle i need to find the rest of it as i pad around my garden in bear feet
Then tonight out on the grass verg i found 2 branches off our trees
Now legally one is allowed to trim neigbbouring foliage if its encroaching on your property
But don't dump it on my grass verg
Also it was just ripped off not a nice healthy cut
The dumb thing is one of the branches is off the pohutakawa thats low down where we can actually see the blooms
I want these ar*e holes out
They are the worst neighbours
They make me not enjoy being in my back yard with their non stop domestics
The kids are out of control - thank god school goes back next week i hope

I am pissed.

My health insurance company sent me a letter that arrived yesterday dated January 15, 2021 saying as of December 13, 2020 my GYN is no longer in network/covered by them. Well, I just started with her Dec 3rd and we are still in the middle of figuring out what meds work for me so I cannot just switch gynecologists.

And women, we know how hard it is to find a good GYN right?

Wow I cannot believe my health insurance company. I called them and was on the phone for 45 minutes and the upshot is my GYN has to contact them saying we are in the middle of treatment.

I then called the GYN's office and they said they are still in network. Not according to Cigna. Sigh.

So waiting to see how this unfolds. This sucks because many of my meds are no longer covered and if I have to pay out of network for my GYN (and I do pay out of network for a couple of other doctors) it really adds up.

We are paying for health coverage and they keep taking meds I am prescribed and no longer covering them. How is this legal??? And now my doctors are not being covered as well?
Nope, not cool and this should not be legal. I am going to pursue this issue for as long as I can and try making this right.

@smitcompton, I appreciate your insight very much. I was trying to figure out the issue with not wanting to go to court, it literally gives me such anxiety to think about the possibility.

It’s my issue, I was dragged to court when I was 16 because my father and stepmother wanted to emancipate me. They didn’t want to have to pay for my health insurance after I moved out (and in with my brother). I was forced to read a three page letter of all the abuse I endured while living there. I didn’t want to do any of that but I wasn’t given a choice. Ironically found that letter a month ago in the attic.

That’s what’s behind it, not trying to be a bad friend, don’t think she is trying to get one over on the city. Hopefully I can just give a statement, worst case is I have to appear as a witness and I will if it comes to that.

Making a condolences card for my kid's teacher's husband. She passed away the day before yesterday of breast cancer at 50. Lovely, caring, warm lady, wonderful teacher.

Additional gut punch for all of us.
Can't help it, tearing up randomly several times a day since we were informed.

Found out we’re not getting raises this year & we probably aren’t getting bonuses (we get them at the end of the fiscal year & historically have been a very decent portion of my compensation).

They announced scholarships in a meeting we had today. But when I tried to get them to help pay for me to go back to college a couple years ago I was told no by whoever runs that program because I don’t need another degree to do my current job. Even though I was told that’s a benefit of the job when I accepted the offer years ago. And I just started the process of foster to adopt along with respite care so I couldn’t even manage fostering + trying to adopt kids + work + school so it doesn’t make sense for me to go for this scholarship I just found out about but I’m kinda salty cause I was crunching the numbers to see if school could be worth it and I just couldn’t justify the expense.

Ugh, I just came here to whine about a similar insurance issue. I’ve spent hours on the phone today trying to work it out. What’s the point of health insurance if I have to constantly pay out of pocket to actually get into a (legitimately needed) specialist?!

Fight the good fight @missy and I’m glad your doc is backing you.

I won’t get too far into details but I’ve been basically in tears over this situation as time is of the essence and so much of it has been wasted this week.

Little annoyances only right now here, thankfully, but plenty of them at once today. The grocery delivery guy broke open the laundry soap box and a can of soda and just left us the gloppy mess all over everything, denying knowing anything about it. But then we found soap powder and part of the soda carton on the sidewalk outside, hmm.

Then went to the post office to get mailers for some jewelry I've sold to avoid standing in line (Covid) but they only had one.

And there's more but it's too boring to keep blabbing on about lol.

Well I may have found a new dentist yesterday. They think they take my dental insurance. Just have to get my papers in the mail first so they can confirm. This dentist might be better anyway. They have more options for TMJ relief than my old one does. Not specialist level but at least it's not only take this plastic mouth guard and GTFO. So I'm hoping everything will be good with my insurance. Currently have a July appointment but might make a sooner one once papers come in.
As far as pain clinics here. I don't know. I'm sure there are. I had one in Florida because of my back. But I got married around the same time as finally proving I have a real issue. I knew my husband would want children in a year and so I declined medicine. I didn't want to be pregnant and have to come off them. Once I am definitely done I'm going to see about finding one for sure.

Oh no your poor family member! That is garbage treatment. I am so glad the hospice was able to help her! I'll never understand why people think it's okay to give people less than they need. Especially in the case of something like cancer. I hope she can be cancer free soon!! <3

I have gotten injections for tmj at pain doc. I think they were some kind of steriod & the injections SUCKED! But it worked & was 100% worth it. The injections were the only thing that worked & worked quickly. Good luck!

Last weekend, my husband and son went mushroom hunting while I stayed home. Guess who got poison oak? Me.

Ugh, I'm sorry :(
What are you treating this with?
I have heard that cool compresses, Calamine lotion, Benadryl, and a cool water oatmeal or baking soda bath. Sending you healing vibes for a quick recovery.
