Welp oof. I have been denied my muscle relaxers that I need by my dentist. She says she prescribed them twice already (at least 2 if not 3 years ago BTW. Not at all recently) and she will not give me more. I now have to hope my new PCM will be willing to help me in February when I go to see them for my first visit. But I don't have high hopes. Every single time I have requested relaxers for my TMJ they have treated me like a narcotics seeker using my medicine to get high. I have had to have special visits just for justifying it to them more than once.

I'm already starting to have a hard time eating. The shooting pains when anything goes in my mouth started a couple of days ago and they only get worse the longer I don't have medicine. I have a difficult time opening for more than a spoon or fork. And I am not sure how I am supposed to have my dental cleaning tommorow with such a small opening. But I have to because its been a whole year since I got a cleaning and I need one.

I don't know what to do if the new doctor says no in February too.

Perhaps the dental hygienist will be more understanding of the problem and have a word with the dentist ?
This sounds a terrible and painful predicament to be in

I have another new primary care physician. Third doctor in 3 years. The other 2 left medicine altogether. I'm starting to take it personally.

Well, I guess the party’s over.

Either dealers have finally found shopgoodwill.com or regular consumers have now gone completely insane. The bidding wars are sending prices skyrocketing and better deals are to be found on etsy.

Seriously, it is bananas. The items wind up, in final closing prices, to be higher than full retail.

I will move on to other auction sites and local pawn shops because it’s becoming a total waste of time. The few little beauties I find and ‘watch’ are now priced 3x what they should be, and the junky crappy stuff is even worse. When you factor in all the fakes, all the bad seller photos, all the moissanite that ‘well, we tested it and it came back as diamond, so..... no returns’ and all that, forget it.

-

In other news, etsy just sent me an email stating they will change their rules for sellers (again) and while they claim my account is unlikely to be affected, I can’t be sure. I’m tempted to quickly list a few things before the new terms of service go into affect, just in case.

But basically, I’m sad to have lost a convenient way to sell anything that didnt work out for me. This will have a chilling effect, making me much more hesitant to buy anything going forward. So my lovely hobby will suffer and that little bit of joy I got from having something to look forward to (not to mention giving other people a little gift) will soon come to an end.

I wish. But unlikely. They have all known i have this issue from my first visit when I moved to be with my husband at his duty station. It's the dentist in this case being the final word on the med request. All I feel I can do is hope they can in there to do my cleaning today and look for another dentist because the trust is lost. And then pop tylenol 2 or 3x a day until February and hope I don't have bad luck again with medicine refusal :(

Ugh what is wrong with these physicians???
Seriously not OK.
Greg had been given Tylenol with Codeine. Did nothing for his pain.
Why are they so reluctant to give their patients proper pain relief???

I am so sorry @MeowMeow and hope you can get the meds you need for appropriate pain management. Sending you lots of healing vibes and gentle hugs.

ETA: What worked for Greg and I am just sharing it in case it can help you but please check with your physician first. Alternating Tylenol with Advil giving it the proper amount of time in between and not going over the allowable daily allowance. Sending you lots of good wishes.

Yeah I have no clue whats wrong with this area. I talked about it with the visiting nurse after my baby was born and she was confused too why I have such a hard time getting my muscle relaxers from the doctors here. She thought it should have been easy since I've been on the same dose for almost a decade and I don't take more than what I need for basic relief.

I appreciate your suggestion Missy. I'll give the advil a shot. I was trying to use ibuprofen as an every other day sort of sub for muscle relaxer so I could stretch my pills out to last as long as possible but it wasn't doing the trick. I was still feeling the tense jaw and shooting pains from the grinding in my teeth through it. But maybe advil/Tylenol might work better since it's two at once.

And I am so sorry. Poor Greg :( does he have a NSAID allergy too? They do the same thing to my husband when he has to have procedures done because of his allergy. I hope your husband heals up fast so he doesn't have to keep being without medicine that actually helps :( *hugs*

Dear Lord, despite being in the grip of this pandemic for nearly a year now, the Police here (UK) have been issuing numerous fixed penalties for people breaking the restrictions. How much more stupidity and selfishness are we going to have to put up with? They broke up a party at the weekend, and were actually told, that the people having the party didn’t know there was a pandemic and therefore, didn’t know they were breaking the rules, because they ”don’t read the newspapers, or watch the news” :angryfire:

@MeowMeow just to be clearer as I don’t know if my previous post was clear please don’t take them together. The way Greg’s surgeon told him to do it. Tylenol and 4 hours later Advil (400mg) and 4 hours later Tylenol and if necessary four hours later Advil. Don’t go over the advised daily max and make sure to leave four hours between. Hope that helps you. Please check with your doctor to make sure it’s ok for you to do this. Good luck ❤️
Thanks for your continued well wishes for Greg. Same to you. XO.

Sadly there is no shortage of stupid behavior. I’m with you Austina. Makes me furious seeing how inconsiderate, selfish and reckless some people are being. Not caring about their fellow humans. :(

Oh no. Don't worry Missy. I knew what you meant. I've been prescribed that exact thing after my wisdom tooth surgery and again after my daughter. I just still consider it "together" because of the overlap of the medicines. Usually I pick tylenol or ibprofen and that's it because i don't like taking too much medicine period. But I know now the dentist isn't interested in helping me other than cleaning my teeth or filling the rare cavity. And I have no doctor I can talk to until February 3rd when I have my appointment. I'm not sure if Urgent care would see me either since it's not pain from an infection and I already have a TMJ diagnosis.

And of course! I want you both to stay as happy and healthy as you can be. <3

This sounds really cr*py for you
How hard is it to get a new dentist in the middle of a pandemic ?

Do you have a pain clinic you could attend
Gary's daughter has cancer and those guys specialize in treating pain, (its not just for cancer patients)
Poor Mel ended up in hospital a while ago and they gave her about a 1/4 of her regular pain meds and she was in agony
They ended up sending her to the local hospice because the hospital couldn't fix her pain bl**dy idiots
- it only took a couple of nights of staying at the hospice and she was able to go home and go back to work

Anyway try and find a pain specialist

Well I may have found a new dentist yesterday. They think they take my dental insurance. Just have to get my papers in the mail first so they can confirm. This dentist might be better anyway. They have more options for TMJ relief than my old one does. Not specialist level but at least it's not only take this plastic mouth guard and GTFO. So I'm hoping everything will be good with my insurance. Currently have a July appointment but might make a sooner one once papers come in.
As far as pain clinics here. I don't know. I'm sure there are. I had one in Florida because of my back. But I got married around the same time as finally proving I have a real issue. I knew my husband would want children in a year and so I declined medicine. I didn't want to be pregnant and have to come off them. Once I am definitely done I'm going to see about finding one for sure.

Oh no your poor family member! That is garbage treatment. I am so glad the hospice was able to help her! I'll never understand why people think it's okay to give people less than they need. Especially in the case of something like cancer. I hope she can be cancer free soon!! <3

Gary is getting the run around with his eyes
his cataracts are a side effect from the treatment of his eye issues caused by the sarcodosis

Our really great eye specialist here moved to Auckland because of the stress of the work load here so he transfered Gary to Palmerston north when he finished as Wanganui had yet to replace him
the eye specialist was very good in Palmerston north but it was a big inconvenience getting there
meanwhile Wanganui got a new eye doctor so the Palmerston North consultant transfered him back, this was in july or August and then she actually apologized for how long it was taking as it looked like he had got a bit lost in the system (maybe due to NZ's 6 week lockdown)

Anyway we had heard nothing for ages after that so while Gary had an unrelated appointment at the hospital another dept looked into it to discover Wanganui had never had the Palmerston North letter Mrs Evans had written
so she extracted the letter from the system and sent it to the eye dept
who put Gary at the bottom of the waiting list (4 months from mid nov)
He just rang the eye dept but can't get past the administrator - i know his prevouse doc used to work Gary's appointments around the administrator because he saw the need for immediate treatment
Now Gary is bind and angry
he can't see to eat properly, i have to keep all the curtains closed because its too bright (his iris is still stuck to the pupil so don't dilate), driving is now out of the question
Its not like we are quee jumping
The administrator says he needs to be assessed but he was already assesed as ready for the opp by Mrs Evans 6 months ago

Last Feb she wanted to wait at least 6 months after the infection cleared up before surgery but its getting on for 14 - 16 months now

Our life is in limbo

Her hubbie got made redundant before Christmas

They knew that was coming.
The cheese factory has been relocated somewhere up north
The covid lockdown actually delayed his redundancy as cheese making is an essential service but unfortunatly the (huge) conglomerate persevered on with the relocation

This is another reason why Gary needs his eyes fixed, so we can go visit them

Also shoes and decent hairstyles. I've been in flip-flops and a topknot for nearly a year.

The last time I tried to apply eyeliner I almost put my eye out from sheer lack of practice.

Thank you MamaBee

On good days i try to look on the bright side about me being home not working
I mean some mornings he gets up before me and he spills water on the bench from the electric jug from making his coffee
That's boiling water he could burn himself with

most of the time we have enjoyed each other's company
We have a 19 year age difference and he retireed 3 years ago so at least we have had 2 years home together

but when he gets grumpy (which is mostly understandable) it can be hard - he has a very fussy and demanding pallet (his mum did warn me)
We brought this house because being a builder by trade he could make it nice but i spent the bathroom money just on surviving last year so i really have to get back to the work force
The house was surposed to have been painted before winter 3 years ago and he's fussy - he won't let me do it and no way do we want his SIL no matter how well meaning to do it
I have all the paint just sitting here waiting on his eyes to get better

Thank you
I know they will its just unfair to him he's had to wait so long
Im thinking maybe i should write an email to the doctor

On top of that the little stray kitten went into heat last week and every tom cat in the neighborhood has been visiting
As soon as i can pat her she needs to go to the SPCA but i have no idea now how i can get her there with Gary not driving

Its a non kill SPCA so long as there is potential for rehoming

Continuing from my previous rant about my neighbor friend who is suing our city for a slip and fall. She asked me for my house number tonight for “paperwork”. I gave it to her since she can find it out anyways. She just today texted me about how her surgery was 40k (that’s how much the insurance company was billed) and it’s higher than she thought etc. It’s apparent at this point that she is purposefully bringing up the cost, so between that and the house number got me curious.

I found out through our online judicial site that this is a current case, she filed back in March of 2020 and there has been lots of action since then. Now it is going to a jury trial. You think she mentioned anything all last year? Nope! This is making me nervous, I don’t want to be involved and actually I don’t feel I have much to contribute. We were walking and she tripped and fell over a break in the sidewalk, that’s all I remember.

I’m concerned now that I could be forced to be a witness since it is going to trial. I already told her I am not going to court virtual or otherwise. This is all just so shady, she never told me they filed a lawsuit, never mentioned anything else until the insurance bill came for her latest surgery. Ugh!

Yep, it sounds like she's got an agenda and is not being upfront with you about it. Maybe you could casually mention something about her own responsibility in her fall. I can't imagine she'd want you there if she thinks that what you have to say will help the other side. :)

Gosh, I don't have any advice.
I guess she's seeing dollar signs.
She may not get much in the end, and her lawyer will probably take at least 30%.
Maybe you should make it clear that you have no intention of cooperating with this lawsuit. So she can tell her lawyer and they can move on without involving you?
I think some of our knowledgeable PSers work with injury law. Maybe someone can give some insight here.

@stracci2000 and @seaurchin thanks gals for the support. I’m just really annoyed , first that she doesn’t respect my feelings and second that I’m not enough of a friend to share this with BUT enough of one to help get her money. Whatever.

Thought I just had a sensitive stomach. Some online reading brought me up to IBS, which matches exactly. Great, I now get to subsist on clear soups. At least this diet is helping the flareup. Giving up spicy food will be the hardest part.

Ugh that is so crappy!! On all fronts :( I really hope you guys are able to get his eyes fixed soon so you guys can go visit them. Sounds like they definitely need family around. Like MamaBee says. I am so glad Gary has you. You sound like you take very good care of him. I hope he knows how lucky he is! <3

I’m concerned now that I could be forced to be a witness since it is going to trial. I already told her I am not going to court virtual or otherwise. This is all just so shady, she never told me they filed a lawsuit, never mentioned anything else until the insurance bill came for her latest surgery. Ugh!

Oof no advice here either. I hope they don't ask you to come be a witness. Anything like that is so stressful!

@stracci2000 and @seaurchin thanks gals for the support. I’m just really annoyed , first that she doesn’t respect my feelings and second that I’m not enough of a friend to share this with BUT enough of one to help get her money. Whatever.

I don’t know if you will have a choice? What if you are subpoenaed? In that case, just be honest.

Well then I don’t have a choice but I’ve made it really clear that I don’t want to speak in front of a court. It’s out of my control, maybe she cares more about the money than our friendship. Maybe we aren’t really friends, who knows.

I directly asked her if they were going to subpoena me and her response was very indirect and didn’t answer my question.

You could also try to dodge the summons server. Don't answer the door and if anyone you don't know approaches you before her court date, run! :p
