I recently had my 1.60ct K OMC set in a Leon and I was debating whether or not to do pave. I decided not to and ended up with a solitaire. When I asked for a quote for the pave for my OMC, he quoted around $3k. His work is impeccable, but be aware, depending on how color sensitive you are, he ONLY USES (I think) G and above colored stones in his melee. I asked for slightly lower colored melee so the contrast with my K wasn''t so significant, but he said NO (in a nice way). The claw prongs are so delicate you can barely notice them - all you see is magnificent OMC goodness.
The solitaire cost mid $1k''s. I would ask Leon if he is willing to use any other melee but his own...nothing a simple e-mail can''t answer.
As for my leon - I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It''s so comfortable and the perfect mix of vintage and modern for me. My OMC outshines a lot of other diamonds that it has been compared to.
Heres a Link to my Leon thread. I need to take some better pictures, but just haven''t gotten around to it.
Leon used to have a statement on his site that said he supplies the melee and will not take requests to use melee from a particular vendor. (I have a feeling he got too many requests from PSers to use ACAs or other super ideal melee.)
I don''t see that statement on his website since he re-designed it, but he does say this: "Do not worry about side stones, we will supply them when the center stone is yours. Picking side stones is an artistic skill and must be taken seriously. It’s not just size and quality of the stones that matters. We have to consider subtle varieties of the stone shapes, faceting, proportions, fluorescence, as well as your finger size, ring design, angles, steps, etc. That’s why it''s important to have your stone on hand while picking the sides."
I have always loved Leon's work. IMO, you really cannot go wrong with one of his designs. I have also heard GREAT things about SS them and love the designs as well. From what I have heard SS is more expensive than LM.
Both SS rings that you posted are gorgeous but if you desire delicate prongs (i prefer as well), note that the 1st SS is a bezel set. Would love to see more pics of the 2nd SS. Let me search!
