Hi! I'm new to both Jade and this forum, and had a question about value and quality of this piece I'm looking to purchase.
I like the design and color of this piece (especially with the flower embellishment!) but am not too sure if the jade should look that 'crystalized' for lack of a better word. I'm also not sure about the translucency. I am fairly certain this is a reputable dealer (Yokdee) based on some research through other forums, but don't know if this is worth ~$1,000 usd. Any thoughts would be appreciated and thanks in advance! Can also upload more pictures if that would be helpful :)

Embellishments like that isn’t mean that the bangle is damaged in that spot and they’ve put some gold on to hold it together.

Unless you really love it I find the price expensive for that quality of jade.

@Jadediver1 I think you were referring to the texture of the jade. I agree with @mellowyellowgirl. You might find this thread useful :

I agree that Yokedee is reputable and I'm certain it is not treated, but $1,000 for that texture seems like a lot. I agree that they add gold to hide flaws :)

Here is one on her site with nice color and better texture for less which is interesting. Your paying more for the gold it seems with lower quality jade

Hi. If you are willing to spend around $1,000 even if less, if you really want a jadeite bangle. Baikalla jewelry are doing live sales this month mon -thur 3pm to 7pm pst. They are a trusted vendor and cut there own bangles. She is currently at headcorters in China where she is doing sales of bangles she usually sells for whosale so you get a great price. For $1,000 you can get like so much better quality from them. they even have like 300 to 400 that look great for that price. Just wanted to let you know. Not a bangle, but I got this ice green pendant set in 18k gold for only 499 to show the good quality for price :)

@Crimson what a lovely resource on jade quality - and beautiful examples!

OP: I would agree with what has been posted. Jadeite texture is extremely important to value.

Thank you, @MMtwo for appreciating the thread. It was fun!

Thank you for all of the responses and resources!!! This is incredibly helpful and I'll be continuing my search, will definitely check out Baikalla!

I am now thinking one of these two from Baikalla, both roughly $800. Any thoughts?

looks like way better texture. If you like the color as well go for it :)

Hi guys! How is the quality on this jadeite bangle? I purchased it from TheRealReal for $600 - haven’t had a chance to authenticate it yet but thoughts?

Lovely bangle! Unfortunately cannot tell by looking for sure if a grade. If it is, you did great! Mason Kay will do an email verification for 70 dollars, which you can upgrade to a cert if it does test a grade.

Oh and quality wise, it looks nice. Lavender is seldom translucent.

Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll do exactly that! it passed the UV light test so hoping it is grade A but I’ve heard you can’t just rely on that.

Ha, the lavender that is my picture is natural, but actually had soft florescence with mineral content in some beads. It drove me nuts until I sent it in. Mason Kay said it happens sometimes, and that is why the check is crucial. Unfortunately, we can guess, but until lab confirmed, you just never know. Pictures show the florescence with an a jade lavender bangle.
