It's a 3.40 carat L August Vintage OEC from GOG (fantastic customer service :)) ). I love this stone! It has gorgeous chunky facets that reflect beautiful pastels and it's so bright! My only reservation is that I'm having a hard time deciding whether it looks too large on my size 4.25 finger. Please tell me what you think.

LOL! You won't get much criticism from this crowd!

No, it is not too large. It is very large, no doubt, but no such thing as "too large" if you like it. You will likely get used to the size anyways. I would set it in a very low profile setting, like a Tiffany Lucinda style setting, to make it more comfortable to wear.

I was feeling the same way - I didn't think it looked too large (it looks great!) but I was thinking that I would set it low.

Thank you, Dreamer D! Yes, I figured I would probably get used to it. My current wedding set has a 1.5 carat round brilliant, so this would be quite a jump!

I've heard of the Tiffany Lucinda, but can't picture it--I'll look it up. I was thinking of the Brian Gavin "Grace" or "Elegance", likely in rose gold. Definitely something set low, without any extra bling.

Too large.. :read: is there such a thing.. I think it looks stunning!!!! I so much love the old cuts... I don't have enough fingers or money or I would have one of those too!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

NO It's GORGEOUS

I don't understand the question.

:cheeky:

It looks beautiful on you.....You're one lucky girl!!!!

This is the lucinda, it is basically like the vatche x-prong. The shank tapers from about 3.5mm by the stone to about 2mm between the fingers. I like a tapered cross prong like this with a slightly wider shank for a large stone because it would make me personally feel like the stone was archored to my hand and more safe and secure. There is a PSer with a rock and setting like this. Let me find the thread.

oh, I think it looks great! and a rose gold setting would be lovely. I think either the Grace or Elegance would be a great option :)

I think it looks right at home on your hand, but you have to be comfortable with the size and look to be completely happy with your ring

Aww, thanks, HeatherL!

Large? Yes. Too Large? NO WAY!

Once you wear it a while the size will "shrink" a bit and you'll be saying.. "hmm.. DSS?"
It's absolutely gorgeous and perfect on your hand! No worries =)

That setting is one of my favorites, the first that came to mind when I was considering this stone! I think I first saw it in the engagement ring folder, and then it was (is?) on JbEG's site. There isn't much $$ left for a setting so I won't likely look up MM for this one but I really do like the Brian Gavin one and I also like the Vatche settings.

Thank you for locating that thread!
