I need everyones honest opinion.

I know that this is a good problem to have, and I am certainly not complaining, but I have gotten some comments lately that are making me self concious about the size of my ring.
I know that it is big (2.44), but there are certainly PSers out there with bigger diamonds, but probably they have bigger hands.
My hands are little, so my question is, does it look ridiculous, silly big on my hand?

I don''t think it looks ridiculous, but does look more like a cocktail ring than a wedding set IMO.

Why does it look like a cocktail ring?
I think it is more along the lines of a halo..

First--if anyone says anything negative about your ring it''s in extremely poor taste and I, for one, do not put any stock in the things rude people say.

That being said . . .

I think your ring looks lovely on your hand. I''m also in the camp of: there''s no such thing as too big, as long as it''s tasteful.

Rings are kind of like wedding dresses, though--some of them wear the person, and some people wear the ring. Do you feel like this ring is wearing you? I can''t see that from the picture, but if you''re self-conscious about it then perhaps that''s affecting the way you carry yourself when you''re wearing it.

If that ring were my ring, I''d wear it with pride, no matter the size of my hand.

You wanted my honest answer and I''ll give it to you. While it really only matters what you think, I do find it a little big for your hand. If I had a large stone like that I would not have a halo on it because it looks a little bulky with it. A diamond of that magnitude wants to shine on its own.

Seriously, though, it doesn''t matter what I think, it''s your ring and you should enjoy it. I surely wouldn''t kick it out bed for eating crackers or anything. If it could eat them...

Thank you Haven!

I think it''s lovely. It''s all about what you like. It''s a gorgeous ring, that halo is so pretty. I have tiny hands too, and wear a big stone, well big to me anyways, I have gotten used to it over the years. I see pictures of me and think wow, that sucker looks huge on my hand, but I love it. So there ya go. JMHO.

Well I LOVE it. I love the look of huge rings on tiny fingers, and that yours is! I love the halo edging, the band, the size of the centre stone, EVERYTHING. You are one lucky lady!

I think it''s beautiful. I especially love the shank on the ER.

Would sure LOVE to see some profile pics!

I think it''s fantastic!!! I am also in the camp that says there is no such thing as too big so long as you can carry it!

(if it makes you feel any better, I put a halo on my 4ct...) I say wear it and love it, anyone making comments is jealous!

Thank you everyone for your kind words.

I do love my ring, but it pales in comparison to the man who put it on my finger.

lotsofsapphire here is a side view

If you''re talking about me, heck yay I''m jealous! I would love to have a big diamond like that!

I''m confused, are you asking because you can still return it or is it a done deal? Because if you''re not sure about then I agree that it looks a bit like a cocktail ring, probably due to the size on your tiny finger. But if you own it and love it and it''s the one, they enjoy it.

I''m not the person to ask because I loooooove large diamonds. I think it looks beautiful on your hand. People who make comments are probably jealous. As long as you and your husband are happy, who cares? Wear it in good health!

I think it looks perfect on your hand! Very pretty style and lovely stone!

Oh my gosh--that profile shot is to die for.
Just gorgeous.
I love it even more now.

Wear it in good health and great love, honey. I know I would!

WOW. That is beautiful.

Thanks for taking the pic

It does look massive - but not bad massive... I think the style of the ring is unique. The stone itself is lovely - you could always get rid of the halo of you get sick of it.

I will agree that it looks more like a cocktail ring. HOWEVER, if its the style you love and you like it in a halo then its YOURS to love! I have a friend who has a 1.7 carat (big for teachers) in a heavy, ornate antique setting that makes it look much smaller. BUT she doesn''t care and is perfectly happy with it.

If you''re worried that it looks overwhelming and it truly bothers you (even before this comment) maybe you should really sit on it and think if you want to tweak it so it''s less showy in your eyes.

As many a PSer has told me when someone made a rude comment to me, they''re probably dealing with their own insecurities in a not so appealing fashion.

It''s a beautiful ring. Enjoy it and wear it in good health.

I agree that it looks a bit like a cocktail ring...But I''m a minimalist so take that for what it''s worth.

While I do appreciate everyone''s opinion on the size of my ring, I didn''t ask if it looks like a cocktail ring.
I don''t think that it does, I picked it from an engagement ring collection, and I only wanted to know if it looked too big on my finger.
Just because it is not a solitaire does not mean it is not an engagement ring, nor does it make it a cocktail ring.

Ditto, I think it is beautiful and unique.

You asked for honesty. Cocktail rings are big rings, so yes I think its a bit on the big side. No one ever said that because its not a solitaire means it looks like a cocktail ring.

So to reiterate: cocktail=big

I think its a beautiful ring, I love the detail, but it is big, and you did ask for honesty.

ETA: If you like it, who cares?

Iluvcarats:

I got the same comment occasionally about my original e-ring. So what.

Am now having another one made because I lost the first one. A bit bigger, not much but an upgrade in stone quality, etc.

I think the "cocktail ring comment" sometimes comes from people who prefer solitaires, IMHO. Myself, I'm not a fan of pave split shanks, pave halos, etc etc. But that's just me.

The beauty of the ring lies in the love of the man who gave it to you, the pride with which you wear it, and, how it makes you feel inside to look at it. Nothing else matters.

It looks beautiful on your hand. The detail on the shank is stunning, and it sparkles like crazy!

There will always be bigger, and, smaller rings. But the only one that REALLY matters is what yours represents to you and your sweetie.

Wear it with pride. it looks lovely.

Not specifically, but you did ask for opinions on it. And we answered. PSers will give you honest opinions if you ask for them, so if you don't want opinions about it, don't ask.

What is most important is whether YOU love it. Not us, we aren't the ones wearing it!

Hey now, teachers deserve big rings, too! :)

(I''m just teasing you, I know what you meant.)

It''s a beautiful ring and you are the only person who can make the call if you think it''s just the right size for you hand. I think that is totally personal preference.

I think the "cocktail ring" comments were basically saying it looked big... just my perception...

Personally, I think it looks killer

, but I love big rings. If you are gonna wear a ring that attracts so much attention, you just gotta get used to it, or else change it in to something you are more comfortable with.

iluvcarat, you probably should reiterate that you''re looking for honest answers or just reassurance on the ring because you''re going to get some honest answers here. I''m wondering what difference it will make if some tell you they don''t like it or it''s too big, will it mean you''ll reset it or get a smaller diamond? Are you on the fence?

I just wanted to know if it looks too big.
I know it looks big.
I just wanted to know if it looked silly.
To me, saying that it looks like a cocktail ring is insulting, because it implies that it does not look like an engagement ring.
