Hi,

I am thinking of getting this ungraded marquise diamond.
These are the details:
2.54 carat
Estimated J colour
Estimated VS clarity.
This is the video of the diamond.

Is it worth the value of 2900 USD? What cut do you think it is? I love a tinge yellow so that’s fine with me.

Looks more tinted than J. Over two and a half carats for under $3k? Is it clarity enhanced?

I try to ask! It was for an event auction. Yeah I agree with it looking more than J but I’m totally fine with the colour. More worried if it would sparkle?

I will be able to pay to top up for a GIE Cert.

Is this an inclusion? Looks huge and obvious... I’ll be wary unless possible to see in person.

From the video the stone also looks rather hazy/cloudy and bottom-heavy ... if you cannot return it for a full refund, then my answer is, "No, it is not worth it."

Ok yes found out that it is clarity enhanced. Is that still worth it’s price?

I’ll get to see it in person then decide but after I confirm I guess no refund. What does it mean by bottom heavy?

No. There are tons of issues with CE stones (search previous threads for specifics). But I wouldn't risk it.

^ bottom-heavy means that the stone was cut such that much of its carat weight is sitting in the bottom of the stone, so its face-up dimensions will be more like that of a less-weight but more well-cut stone. In other words, you'd be paying for carat weight that you cannot see.

Without a diamond grading report by a reputable laboratory, all of our opinions are based on the very limited info available and the one video ... since you now state the stone is clarity enhanced, my answer changes to "No." Clarity enhanced stones have their own risks, and my guess is over time the treatment will fail and the marquise's appearance will further suffer. For sure, hazy/cloudy stones are not sparkly.

If you would like a large stone with diamond-like characteristics, there are plenty of more sparkly options out there, including attractive and stable man-made options. [Note: due to forum rules we cannot discuss man-made options in this forum.]

I wouldn’t buy it - I don’t believe it’s a J and I don’t think you will enjoy the look of it.

What’s your budget? Are you looking for a large marquise? Do you like the tint?

i love a nice marquise, even more tinted stones but this one just seems MEH. it looks cloudy, has a very obvious bow tie and i just wouldnt do a clarity enhanced stone.

I dont like the look of it, large obvious bow tie. Remember carat weight does not equal face up size. If you post your budget and your setting desires the folks here will find you great options.
