It is a very clean looking SI2. I can see the feather but it just looks like a cloud to me. Nice find. The stone is sort of a 60/60
stone with a lower crown. We usually like a higher crown (34-35). Did you request and Idealscope on it to check on light return
(they can only do them if the stone is in the NY area).

Did you pick the setting or did she? It's got a lot of metal up near the stone. Have you seen a picture of how it looks with the matching
weeding band? I couldnt find one on JA. It would be hard to put any other wedding band with that setting except the ones that go
with it. I would ask for "claw" prongs instead of the round prongs they have on the setting.

1. Hey there, unfortunately it is as you said, the diamond is not at their NY Store, and I could not get the AEST or other scoped images. This is why I wanted a second opinion on the stats and pictures that are currently available for this stone.

2. Its common in our customs for the engagement ring to double as the wedding band, so no worries about that.

3. "It's got a lot of metal up near the stone.", would this make the stone less brilliant/smaller etc ? Or is it just a problem with wedding band compatibility ?

4. Is the lower crown a very significant thing in this case ?

Thanks alot for your opinion !

right, the thickness/metal near the stone will diminish the size of the stone. Does she absolutely want a bypass style setting? Would she be open to a twisted type of band? Or a twisted band with a halo?

halo with twisted band
https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...-pave-halo-twisted-shank-solitaire-item-17470

twisted band
https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...-gold-twisted-pave-engagement-ring-item-53535

infinity (the tapering near the head helps the thickness of the rest of the band)
https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...infinity-solitaire-engagement-ring-item-53313

still a little wide but it does have some tapering near the head so it helps
https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...ve-infinity-diamond-engagement-ring-item-9325

and there are so many others on JA with a twisty type of band if you want to look at something else.

Hey there, thanks for suggesting the other bands from james allen. We are going for a setting with no additional stones.

We went to a few ring shops physically and this is the setting she likes the most : http://love-and-co.com/product/lcr182/
I think it's the twirl below the stone that sparks her preference.

So i thought that the setting from james allen, https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...-white-gold-bypass-engagement-ring-item-22555 closely resembled it. Here's a picture of the james allen bypass setting i found on pinterest :

Still cracking my head over it, though james allen not giving me much variety

it actually looks better in that real life pic... but that stone is larger than yours. And it's the raised metal that bugs me the most i think, it makes it feel bulky. The one she likes is very fluid and feminine. i know, that's really the only bypass JA offers. Which is crazy because they're becoming more popular i think. Are you opposed to buying the setting and stone separately and having it set locally with a trusted jeweler? Or maybe ID Jewelry could source the stone and setting? I think there might be a Gabriel & Co setting that would work better, what do you think about these?

I do fully agree the ER10200W4JJJ setting by gabriel & co looks much better than JA's bypass !

JA doesent set diamonds onto another jeweler's setting, so I guess I have to find another awesome diamond on ID's site ?
(Any help with that will be appreciated !)

How reliable is ID Jewelry ?

How reliable is ID Jewelry ?

I like that one as well, not extremely swoopy like some bypass settings so it looks really good with a curved band. IDJewelry has RAVE reviews here, Yekutiel is pretty well known here for pulling off some amazing rings/stones within a budget. if you search within the forum, i believe there is a post dedicated to IDJ rings and other jewelry, you'll see they do an amazing job. it would probably be worth it to CALL and give him the setting info and stone budget to see what he can get you.

This WF setting is SO pretty! Very feminine. WF has some beautiful diamonds too. Remind me of your stone budget? Or your all in budget. I think it was around $2800, is that right? If so there are some really nice stones in your range in the WF inventory.

There's an .732ct I colored ACA (their top of the line cut) VS2 that is $2991 if you do a wire transfer. Unless your intended is really color sensitive, in a stone this size, the color should be fine.
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3685708.htm

or this very slightly smaller .708ct ACA in an H color SI1 (link says eye clean though i'm not digging the inclusions) for $2857

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3702659.htm

Check out their ACA, Expert Selection and Premium Selection to see what they have to offer within your budget.

JA just sent me an idealscope image of this stone:

image_1023.jpg

I'm no expert at all but looks ok to me (I hope)

We also finalized a new setting from JA : https://www.jamesallen.com/mobile/e...ite-diamond-accent-engagement-ring-item-50124

Thanks to everyone that put in their input, you guys have been a great help. Buying an engagement ring online turned out to be a good experience thus far especially after the bull I've encountered with local physical jewellers.
