If it matters that much to you. I''d recomend contacting Infinity diamonds through www.highperformancediamonds.com or Brian Gavin at www.briangavindiamonds.com since they are both cutters who will be able to tell you exactly where some of their stones came from, and will be able to ensure that you get a ''new'' diamond.
But the fact of the matter is that other than that. Not reallly a way to trace, and many diamonds are ''recycled.'' And most folks don''t care. Best of luck.

The history of my diamond mattered to me; that's why I bought a Crafted by Infinity diamond. Paul Slegers, the owner, through his vendors, is able to give you information not only about the country or origin, but also details about the rough and cutting process for your individual stone.
For stones cut within the last six months or so, Crafted by Infinity provides customers with a photo of the rough diamond from which their particular stone was cut, along with a certificate signed by Paul. No other vendor, that I know of, does this.
Many vendors have trade-up/trade-in policies, so, in reality, there could be a lot of "recycled" stones out there! Infinity offers a great trade-in policy, so a small percentage of their stones may be "recycled," but if you are truly interested in a "freshly-cut, never-been-worn" diamond, Crafted by Infinity vendors can provide that.
