Is the etch channel on this Cushion a deal breaker?

Hi - I have place this center stone on hold with James Allen and sent the link to the jeweler who will be designing the setting (and is also looking to sell me a center stone). The jeweler said he would in no way purchase this stone due to the tiny etch channel, but the research I have done lead me to believe that it would not create a structural issue on a VS1 stone.

I would appreciate any help in determining if this etch channel really is an issue, any other thoughts on the stone are welcome too.

It is a VS1.

Anyway, strongly suggest that you put 3 diamonds on hold and have their gemologist pick the best one.

Appreciate the quick response, and I'll take the confused look to mean you have no idea why the jeweler would say that...other than to sell me one of his diamonds.

Could you help me narrow it down to 2 others to submit to the JA gemologist? I think the second link you provided fits the bill, but the search might give a better idea of what I am looking for (1.75-2 ct, H or better, eye clean, SI1 or better).

Well, some people think that some inclusion types are better than others. Maybe. But at VS1 level, no matter what type, it will be very, very small.

The first one you linked is sort of rectangular with straight sides, almost like a radiant. The list has mostly square stones.
From your list I would probably get 48635, 226596, 255705, maybe 36326.
