@Catmom , I love that picture! What pearls are those?

I think they are most likely high fakes but not 100% sure. There are some of these out there that have a cultured pearl cert with them. The clasp is 14kt with a tiny diamond chip on this one.

@stracci2000 I thought you might enjoy this. These are some pearls hubby inherited from his G-Grandmother. His Grandmother wore them in her wedding in 1925. They desperately need to be restrung and cleaned. The clasp is 14kt gold with a tiny diamond chip.

Oh, I love this! So beautiful! Those pearls would be very easy to restring. I think they are faux pearls, made of glass.
My grandparents were married in 1925 too!
Grandfather was an Italian immigrant, and grandmother was first generation Italian, born in the Bronx.
Here is their wedding photo. Her dress was lilac colored. She had it hanging in her closet when I was a teenager. The shoes were silver thread brocade.
When she showed them to me, they were tarnished and gray.

This is a wonderful thread. Seeing the historical family photos and then the jewelry then and now gave me goosebumps. That pocket watch, amazing in itself, but then pinned on her blouse in the photo -- wow, phenomenal. What incredible family treasures.

We found this tintype of Frank and Liz.
It appears that Liz is wearing this carnelian ring.
This ring was in MIL's jewelry hoard. I suspected that it was Liz's ring, and now I am relatively sure that this is the same ring.

The ring was made by M.B. Bryant &Co., NYC. They operated 1858-1930.

I should add that all these pieces of jewelry (and others that I will show soon) were all in the same small antique box, so I knew that they were together for a reason.

This is such a cool thread. Thank you for sharing @stracci2000 and @Catmom. The jewelry and pictures are beautiful.

@stracci2000, I can’t believe you have photos of your husband’s family wearing the jewelry.

It's really amazing, isn't it?
Several years ago, when the inscribed wedding rings came into my possession, it really piqued my curiosity.
So I did a bunch of research
and drew up his family tree using genealogy websites.

So I knew the names of these people already.
But then we recently found the photos and the additional jewelry. Once I was able to piece them all together, it was like traveling back in time.

Here are Liz's parents.
Anton (died 1897, age 55) and Katherine (died 1898, age 57) They were from Germany. They were both living in Ohio when they died.
These are memorial cabinet cards, and all this information is printed on the back of each card.

Then we came across this German religious book. Google Translate says it is a first holy communion hymnal presented by the recipient's godfather. It was printed in the Duchy of Hesse in 1853.

The initials K B are embossed on the front. But who is KB?

I went to several free ancestry web sites and found out that Katherine was born in Hesse, Germany.
Her maiden name was listed on one website, and started with a B.
So KB is great great grandmother Katherine!
I don't know how much more excitement I can stand over here.......!

This is all DH's family, and I am way more excited about these photos than he is!

We found more photos.

This is the original albumen print of Liz's parents and siblings.
Liz is on the far right.
Taken about 1886.

I also just found out today that DH's great great grandfather John and his brother Nehemiah fought in the civil war.

Great-great grandfather John fought for the 99th Ohio Volunteers and was wounded at the Battle of Nashville, 12/15/1864.

Great-great uncle Nehemiah fought for the 140th Pennsylvania Volunteers and was wounded at the Battle of Morton's Ford in Virginia, 2/6/1864.

This family is full of amazing people!
