Hello everyone in Pricescope land!
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with having a designer ring setting raised a bit?
A bit of a back story... My gf and I had looked at some rings and I misinterpreted what she wanted. I started planning a custom 3 stone ring with pear shaped sidestones and then later found out she hates 3 stone rings. Long story short, I'm on the hunt again and based on some pics she showed me, I'm leaning towards the Verragio Insignia 7050r from Whiteflash. She loves fairytyle rings with unique style and flow to the design, while keeping a feminine and dainty look. Lots of the pictures she's shown me have split shank or twisted/braided bands. Now the kicker, she loves a higher set diamond. She showed me the ring from her previous engagement (the height is really the only thing she liked about that ring) and when she wasn't home (we live together) I decided to sneak some measurements. Her old ring sits about 10mm from the top of her finger to the top of the stone. It's hard to find measurements like this online but after some digging, I believe the 7050r sits about 7.5mm from the top of finger to top of stone. Whiteflash said it's no problem to get a quote to set the stone higher but I'm wondering if this adds risk of it not looking right. They said that the designers don't usually provide a CAD for something simple like raising the height of the center stone.
Can anyone give me their experiences with making small changes (like the setting height) to a designer ring like Tacori or Verragio and tell me if I risk compromising the overall design by raising the diamond by 2.5mm?
Thanks in advance for any advice or opinions that you all might have!
